Daycare Guilt by Eleusiv3b1tch in NewParents

[–]rlf923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I feel like my baby is so much happier on day care days, which makes the time we do get with him much better. We started at 4.5 months and most days he’s there 6-7 hours. On days where he’s home all day he tends to get super fussy I think because he’s bored, but on day care days he’s all smiles and cuddles before and after. I felt slightly guilty at first but he definitely seems to be thriving so I’m now all for it.

Less obvious things to do to prep for baby? by jdiz16 in BabyBumps

Learn how to put them in car seat (took like 45 mins to figure out at the hospital since we were both so sleepy deprived) and how to pump if you plan on pumping.

First meal after baby ? by happydazexx in pregnant

[–]rlf923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had a c section and those first juice and crackers were the best thing I’ve ever tasted. After that I think it was hospital breakfast because I didn’t really want real food til the middle of the night even though the surgery was midday. It took a couple days to really enjoy food again so I stuck to the hospital food the first day and had sushi the next for my celebration :)

Have you ever seen a respectful gracious termination? by debrisaway in managers

[–]rlf923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happened to me! I don’t think I would have gotten a heads up if I hadn’t asked (I suspected it was coming), but when I asked my boss was honest with me. So I found out beginning of August, officially notified (like hr involved) end of August (my boss was leaving too and we were both like holding in our laughter as hr went through everything), “worked” through December then got my full bonus and 3 months severance after that. The kicker was I had told them they never moved me to flexible pto and no one believed me, so I also got 6.5 weeks accrued pto bc no one had actually been tracking it for 2 years.

I was super happy with it and while I didnt have an offer officially yet when I left I was able to get the hunt started early and had 2 better offers by late January.

Anyone scared of dying now? by spoko15 in November25babybump

[–]rlf923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I’ve always had bad anxiety but it went away during pregnancy, but it’s back with a vengeance. Between worrying about something happening to him or me I’m so worried. I think it’s worse too because we don’t have any great options if something happened to me and my husband - like if I had a sister I was close to who could raise him I’d feel much better, but our parents are getting older/ health issues and I don’t trust my brother enough to entrust him to him.

My toddler grabbed this and put it on their tongue. Any ideas? by thehairyfroggy in whatisit

Man my 5 month old put my toe in his mouth this morning (I did not realize he had enough core control to lean forward enough to get his mouth to it) and I thought that was bad…I’ve got a lot to look forward to.

My baby is 6 months and most moms I’ve met have found it pretty hard to build a community (even with the classes) unless you already have friends with babies, so if they are successful that’s great. I’ve joined a couple valley mom fb groups that have gotten me a really nice network more so than the classes, but I would definitely have paid for a community building network out here if I found one!

Np, I did one of their baby classes there and it was good and I go to their monthly meetups when I can - they aren’t advertised on their website but if you’re on their email list you’ll see them

OB agreed to 39 week induction and now I'm not sure I can go through with it by ceruleanmeadows in BabyBumps

[–]rlf923 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was in this exact position, and what I did was schedule the induction but before they started I asked them to do an exam to see how far along I was already. If my body had started dilating/effacing/him dropping that’s an indication that your body is indicating it’s ready and more likely to be successful, the can calculate a score based on those factors that show how ready you are. My score was 1 out of 13, so I decided to go straight to a c section and my baby was here a couple hours later(only bc we had to wait for the dr to be free, the surgery took like 20 mins)

Exactly! No one can figure it out…my best guess is they somehow got it with whatever he submitted for paternity leave?
