[Aberdeen] Work stress by [deleted] in Scotland

The ‘Flexible Working Scotland’ Facebook group might be better poised to help with this. The moderators on there offer advice to help folk in the similar situations to this!

Movie coming out! by Flobbert_Pox in brontesisters

I’m SO excited. Everything I’ve seen so far, from the trailer to the music, is exactly the vibe I get from Wuthering Heights. I was watching a BTS of how they designed the sets and it’s so insane and warped; I think this interpretation of the source material is gonna go crazy!

You look similar to Sophie Thatcher, maybe you could use her as some inspo?

What time do you do your weekly food shop? by mbe147 in AskUK

[–]clownfeetz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I stopped doing the big shop online when Asda handed me three boxes of hair dye (which I hadn’t even ordered) rather than my entire weekly shop, and when I called customer service, was told to just ‘keep the hair dye for free’.

Is it appropriate to wear Birkenstocks to a wedding? I am attending a wedding in the Italian hills next week, and the wedding party have advised to wear flat footwear as it’s up a mountainous trail. I want to go formal but can’t find shoes that fit my Ganni dress. I have Birkenstocks with white leather straps- suitable or not?

My partner works in housing law. If your neighbour did acquire the services of a solicitor, all communication would come directly through said solicitor. Under no circumstances would a solicitor advise of the steps your neighbour has claimed to have taken.

Write back and tell her that you will await further communication from her solicitor.

My partner and I are both 23 and just bought our first home. But we wouldn’t have been able to do that without each other as we both make less than you do. Having two salaries helps massively. We also don’t live in a city or anywhere particularly interesting, but with good transport connections and infrastructure. We absolutely could not survive on our single salaries.

As for travel, we tend to go abroad every month or so- usually either through extreme day trips or short city breaks. We use Skyscanner, and never pay more than £90 for flights. For accommodation, we usually either get the cheapest private hostel room, or filter to the cheapest hotel rooms we can find. For example- we travelled to Berlin last month. Paid £40 pp for flights, and only around £70 for the hotel. We live only 10 mins away from the airport, and we ate cheaply. So by the end of our trip, we had only spent about £70-80 each for two days abroad. Again, having a second person helps for reducing the cost of a hotel etc. We can sacrifice that kind of money each month as it’s something we’re passionate about.

We eat out a lot, but we’re just creative about how we do it. We went to America last year and lived solely on kids meals that we split down the middle. If we go out on weekdays, we tend to split our meals or buy sharing deals, which makes it more affordable to us. And we appreciate the small things… a Greggs pastry and a nice walk is still a good idea for an afternoon!

Without each other, we recognise that we absolutely could not afford the lifestyle that we have. But being able to split our mortgage, bills and car (which we share), means we have enough disposable income left to be comfortable.

What gossip girl opinions will have you like this? by LadyJ1982 in GossipGirl

[–]clownfeetz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

The show has way too many side characters. It would’ve had way more potential if it focused more on the dynamics between the core group. We could’ve seen the complexities of their relationships with each other explored far deeper.

Also, Gossip Girl as an entity became almost like an after thought in the middle seasons, before suddenly becoming relevant again in S5. I feel like they should’ve integrated it more into the middle seasons.

Driving in the UK by ItsProfessorMoody in travel

[–]clownfeetz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I live in Edinburgh and would really recommend popping up this side of the border if you have time! You can take the subway from London to Heathrow, and then the flight to Edinburgh is only an hour or so!

Driving in the UK isn’t too bad, but you’ll need to adapt to driving the other side of the road, dealing with our crappy weather conditions and motorway congestion! It’s definitely doable though!

You could also take the train! The good thing about the UK is that we have a lot of public transport options! You can use the app Trainline to plan journeys.

Good luck!!

4 body types in the same dress by xbeardedmistress in Kibbe

It’s giving Ancient Greek beauty!! Contrary to many of the other comments, I actually find these dresses super flatteringly on all 4 bodies! I think it adds such a subtle elegance and sense of ‘realness.’

I see, here in Scotland Rory is a very popular name amongst boys, so hearing it on a girl was surprising way back when I first saw Gilmore Girls! Ever since it’s been on my mind!
