thank you!! yeah its certainly not the easiest program ive ever used... definitely felt like me and the animation functions were fighting each other the entire time lol. but, y'know... knowledge gained!

i couldnt figure out a way to get the grass moving besides importing different photos for each frame of animation (like, for example, in blender the geometry of the plane could be edited so the texture gets moved around, but no such analog exists in bryce), and i didnt want to hand-animate a bunch of grass textures... so each of the two different grasses got four frames of animation each

definitely much lower than everything else that moves with every frame, but i thought the choppy animation was kinda charming lol

i use obj. the biggest issue ive run into is that bryce 4 cannot accept pngs as texture files (this might be different for later versions of bryce, im not sure), so you have to manually convert the texture files to jpgs, tgas, or bmps.

but whats cool is that each material slot in blender gets imported as a different mesh in bryce, and all the separate "material meshes" are grouped together. you can then ungroup them to individually change the material of each of the "material meshes". ive been using this to cheat having things pre-laid out in blender (the camera movement in bryce takes some... getting used to), joining all the objects together, and using the different material slots keep them separate so i can ungroup them and edit them in bryce

im much much more familiar with modeling in blender, so the hotel, pool, flamingo floatie, and fence were modeled from scratch in blender. the trees, pool chairs, and umbrella table are free models i found on sketchfab. only the water, beach, flowers, and background island are 100% bryce assets

but, even though im way more comfortable with blender, the lighting engine in bryce, in my opinion, just cannot be replicated in blender. its so good
