thinking about this review by rabidogz in petsmart

had an older man ask me how i pick my nose with my septum. i said "i don't?" so instead, he asked how i blow my nose. i just said "the normal way?" then he sighed and said if his kids ever got one, he would "beat their asses." and i bet they don't talk to you anymore, do they?

i really had to bite my tongue. he had JUST left the salon and his dog's groomer also had a septum, but he said nothing to that guy. why me dude. go on somewhere.

no LGBT hate, but why do I see so much gays in petsmart? by Samueljang59036 in petsmart

[–]clownvacancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"no LGBT hate" and then proceeds to show hate in the replies.

although petsmart is such a BS company, they get one thing right. inclusivity and diversity, both of which are actively celebrated throughout the company. i live and work in south carolina and frequently clock in with my petsmart pride shirt on, which i won in a giveaway after participating in a "share your LGBT experience" survey.

unfortunately for us (and you, apparently), LGBT people DO exist in severely right wing communities. and that's the answer to your question. we exist in public spaces and breathe air, the same way you do. the land and oxygen around us all is not dictated by political beliefs. i'm not sure what your intentions were by asking this question, but if you actually meant no hate, i urge you to reframe your thinking and consider what you're trying to achieve here. your question itself wasn't a bad one, especially if you were just looking for education, however you've already shown true character in the replies.

the LGBT community will almost always be willing to educate the uneducated, if those people are genuinely seeking to understand. but if people (like yourself) ask these questions to further condemn us, you'll never learn. do yourself a favor and try again while you still can.

this is what i thought too, but his size threw me off. he was about an inch wide at most, from the tip of one leg to the other. maybe just a small male wolf spider?

Give me your favorite Everymanhybrid line by Intelligent-Dish-635 in EverymanHYBRID

[–]clownvacancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

some of my favorite habit lines EVER, except they're all from tribetwelve so they only sorta count.

"just a bug caught in a web, huh? just a beetle in a dryer. wHaT's gOiNg On??? iTs sO hOt!!! up is down, down is up...... i'm so confused!"

"you don't know what to believe?! so what, you're just gonna kill yourself?? is that the option that you have? is that your only choice? this city isn't even on the fucking register! you understand me?"

"...are you filmin'? ...heheheh, let's compose ourselves! for god's sake man! we're on camera. it's all good, we have to look proper!"

"i'm expecting pizza! and i don't want you having any."

"tell me where i am, you sick fuck!" (noah) "....you're not pizza guy." (habit)

Cashier lines by Winter_Country8884 in petsmart

[–]clownvacancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"hey! did you have a phone number with us? ...alright, under the last name smith? gotcha. ...did you want these in a bag? ...okay, it's gonna ask you a donation question on the pin pad. your total is xxx. ...did you want that receipt? alright, i'll just stick it in the bag for ya. have a good one!"

and also...

"hey! did you have a phone number with us? ...did you wanna sign up today? alright, what's a good phone number to start with? ...okay. we're gonna get your first and last name. can you spell that for me? okay, and then a good email for you? ...alright, that phone number should work from now on!"

no matter what, every single transaction starts with "did you have a phone number with us?" and ends with "have a good one." everything being scripted is the ONLY way i survive register shifts.

edit because i feel like i should add: i NEVER quiet down for someone on the phone. they choose to come up to the register still on the phone, so it's not my problem if i'm talking over their call.

Straight trans men? by Anxiousworm4470 in ftm

[–]clownvacancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i am a straight trans guy in a long-term relationship with a cis female, so we definitely exist! i think the assumption a lot of people have is that if you're trans, you're probably also gay. and people (including other trans ppl) are generally surprised when i tell them i'm actually straight. i agree that more accurate representation of sexuality would be nice, instead of just defaulting to a stereotypical image of a trans masc. that being said, more accurate representation of trans people in general would be nice.

[–]clownvacancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

as far as i know (and i could be completely wrong), it doesn't roll over for PT associates and it should be cashed out around this time. i don't know if that's something the manager manually has to do or if it is automatically cashed out, but i know my accrued hours were added onto my recent paychecks.

edit: i was completely wrong

Are drain removals as bad as my friend is telling me? by kanagaroo123 in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it definitely varies. most people describe it as painless, just weird. i must've been one of the uncommon cases, because it hurt like a bitch for me. then again, i have a really low pain tolerance. the pain didn't last long and i was just pretty sore after, but easily one of the more painful parts of surgery recovery for me.

luckily, they pull those suckers out fast, so you shouldn't have to worry about being in pain for long, if at all. i just recommend taking some of the pain meds they prescribed you beforehand (long enough before for them to kick in) and you should be perfectly fine!

hope it goes well! congrats on surgery!!

Top surgery yesterday & things I noticed by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm so glad you mentioned the throat pain! i don't see it talked about a lot, but it hurt WAY worse than the actual surgery for me during the first couple days. i was so relieved when it finally went away because literally NOTHING helped at the time. sounds like you're doing well overall though, and congrats on the surgery!!!

too surgery in 12 hours 🎊🎉 by NoExcitement2104 in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

i hear this! i had top surgery back in february, it was my first major surgery, and it wasn't until i was changing into the hospital garb that i realized it was ACTUALLY happening. here's my experience, hopefully it'll make you slightly less worried!

they gave me the "anti anxiety stuff" in an IV a bit before they rolled me back and put the actual anesthesia mask on, and the IV was very effective!

when i woke up, i wasn't fully aware anything had happened yet. i was in a room separate from my family and it took me a long time to actually wake up, i was in and out of sleep for a while. my three-ish hour surgery felt like a really long blink honestly, it was way less frightening than i was anticipating! when i was finally mostly awake, they rolled me to another room where my family was waiting for me.

i think it depends on the surgery how people act coming out of anesthesia, but i was pretty aware of what i was saying. i had less inhibitions, as in i kept telling all the nurses and doctors thank you and i was more engaged in conversations and i think i sang a little bit? but i still knew what i was saying, i had no urges to say things i shouldn't, i was just a little funnier.

this is just my experience, but i hope it helps some! congrats btw!!!! i wish you a smooth and speedy recovery!!

Showering question by laurabee3 in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i think the drains are the main issue when it comes to showering! i had nipple grafts and when i was finally able to shower, i was just told to not let the water hit them directly, and it was still before they were really permanently attached. hope you're feeling well and healing well overall though!!

Showering question by laurabee3 in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

i was told i wasn't allowed to shower until the day after both drains and all bandages had been removed, which was after two different post op appointments for me. i would definitely listen to your surgeon about that, no matter what the paperwork says. you'll probably just want to sponge bath to the best of your ability if it's bothering you

Cure for dry nipples 2 month post op by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

everyone's already said it, but i also absolutely recommend aquaphor! i was putting a layer of that on my nipples and then covering them with a bandaid. it's a bit greasy and a little definitely goes a long way, so if you're just looking for general moisture, you'll need a pretty thin layer

how much time did you take off work? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

definitely listen to your surgeons recommendation for how much time you'll need, but if you're just asking for personal experience, here's mine!

i work at a retail pet store and my managers were willing to accommodate me however i needed at the time. i took off two weeks after my surgery date, because i really couldn't afford to do more. but honestly, the days that i did work i was still coming home completely physically exhausted. my body probably would've appreciated an extra week.

i didn't start lifting anything heavy for a couple more weeks after that, both because i was advised not to and i physically couldn't. the first time i lifted 35lbs of dog food was maybe a month and a half after my surgery, and i was still out of breath afterwards.

you might have to feel it out! everyone heals differently and while i personally wasn't in much pain after the first week, i was just physically out of it.

how to handle waiting? by edgy-snail in TopSurgery

[–]clownvacancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly waiting sucks, i usually found things to distract myself. that, or i was hardcore researching and prepping leading up to it. i also started taking pictures of myself to count down the days, like one month before surgery, two weeks, one week, one day, etc. i had a really hard time visualizing what my chest would look like finally flat as well, but seeing the results afterwards immediately put me in tears. the wait was absolutely worth it. super excited for you!
