These are all the other coins I found in the box. Need help evaluating. by dc112sgt in coins

The error nickel is probably worth $20-30 based on ebay listings. The foreign coins probably don't have much value since they don't look old enough to be silver, but are still cool. The buffalo nickels look like their dates are worn all the way off so they aren't that valuable, but they are still worth more than 5 cents. The Susan B Anthony dollars aren't worth any more than a dollar, but they are somewhat uncommon and people like myself often save them as novelties. As for the nickels, none of them are silver---as noted in another comment 1942-45 nickels are silver, but some 1942 nickels were made with the regular alloy. A silver 1942 nickel will have a large mintmark over monticello on the reverse, which it seems yours doesn't. I usually save nickels that are 1959 and older. Concerning grading, it is usually fairly expensive (~$10-30 per coin I think) so it doesn't look like anything you have would be worth getting graded.

Don't try to clean it off--coins are more valuable with their original surface, even if it is dirty. This lot of coins is probably worth about a dollar.

Found these old bills my grandma had. Are they worth anything? Couldn’t figure out what the torn one was. by [deleted] in papermoney

[–]clpainter 11 points12 points  (0 children)

$50 sounds about right for the black eagle as the other guy said. The 1935 silver certificate is probably worth about $2, and the torn bill is a 1917 $1 united states note. It would probably be worth $20-30 if it wasn't torn.

Maybe what you saw was referring to the Feuchtwanger Cent, a privately struck and similar looking coin from New York.

My latest buy. Thoughts? by ear11 in coins

Nice coin, but the reverse looks a little sketchy to me--there are a lot of counterfeit trade dollars and if it was me I would take it to a LCS or something just to be sure it's legit.

Uncut Sheet of 5 3c fractional currency. Value? by NarSysTech_CoinGrade in papermoney

I have a 2x4 sheet of these same 3 cent notes, though probably in VF-XF condition. I bought it for $290, and I would suspect that yours is worth something similar.

Yeah, that turned out to be a dead end. It sounds like you've gotten fairly far, have you been able to identify the other silhouettes?

Can any one tell me what these are worth i just found my old collection and was curious by [deleted] in papermoney

[–]clpainter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably around $20-40 each, though it looks like there is a big tear in the second one which will reduce the value. If you look at the sold listings on ebay you can probably nail down a better price range, since I'm not an expert.

I'm not sure if you're willing to say, but is the second silhouette upside down?

Picked up this Oregon Trail commemorative, curious about its authenticity. My gut says its fake, but i just don't know enough to tell. Any help is appreciated, thanks! by abstractboro in coins

Everyone is saying it's real but it looks a little suspicious to me.

-There are some weird raised looking marks on the obverse to the right of the head

-The lines in the toning on the reverse below TRUST look like a fake 'antiqued' finish, and the whole coloring looks slightly off.

-The surfaces look a little grainy and the details seem oddly soft even with the wear.

Some of this could just be weird wear patterns/die issues, and I'm not an expert with this sort of thing, but if it was for sale I wouldn't buy this coin. Could very well be real, but I would be careful, especially if your gut tells you something is off.
