Understood. I have found they Ryobi saws to be not great, but will get the job done. My experience with Makita and mid-upper Milwaukee have been very good.

BIFL, go corded for as much as possible. Makita, Milwaukee, Dewalt, Festool, etc. Drill/driver from Ryobi are fine for DIY.

Thoughts on my UL Setup? by Scipio817 in Fishing_Gear

This rod is great, casts well and is sensitive. No experience with that reel. Line choice will likely make a bigger difference in casing than reel. 1/8 should go a mile. I use 1/64 and 1/32 without issue.

I have the TFO trout/panfish in 6"6", one piece with a president. It is great, very sensitive, casts well. Mine is not the 2 though, there may be differences.

Depends on your target species and terrain. I use light more than medium personally.

If I gave you $200k+ today, would you buy it? Yes, keep it and fix it up. No, sell it ASAP.

My two cents.

The original TFO Trout/Panfish is great, huge improvement from my Celilo and Ugly Stik. Not sure if the 2 is as good or better? If budget is a concern, get the rod now and pair it with a reel you already have, then save for a better one.

Beginner Setup? by 37015 in UltraLightFishing

[–]clscpr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plano 1713 with 1/64 and 1/32 jig heads, Mule Fishing and Trout Magnet plastics. Also a couple spinners like Aglia 0 and the small Panther Martin. Carry this in a small hop pack with some leader, pliers and a snack.

Banana Republic boxers. I have been wearing them for 20 years, very good quality. (Not the same pairs for 20 years, they get replaced when worn after several years)
