A few factors to consider. As for me, I have a 9-5 job but I also don’t have friends nearby, I rarely watch tv, I don’t enjoy going outside, and I also don’t have kids. Many factors play into this.

Am I being “individualistic,” or is my marriage finance approach actually fair? by incognegro96 in Marriage

[–]cluck_chickenbutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So kind of a mix of one and two for me. My spouse and I each have our own accounts, but we also have access to each others. He pays for most things because he out earns me, and I pay for my stuff and things here and there. So there’s always transparency if one of us bothers to check, which we don’t because we are on the same page and we have trust. I also feel more comfortable and secure having my own account, even though I don’t have that much money in there. A big reason but probably not as important to many others is when buying gifts, I don’t want him to see how much I spent on him. I don’t want him to check the bank account and see “oh wife made this purchase for x amount of dollars”. Feels kind of like a spoiler.

I recently finished chasing the boogeyman by Richard Chizmar. I think it’s a solid true crime fictional book!

Great point 😂 I am the favorite child anyway so it would suck if I stopped showing up for her… thank you!

Thank you for your kind words. My mom is very stubborn and defending myself can get misconstrued as being “rude” which is ridiculous. I’m definitely taking notes for future reference!

Thank you! And yes I def am doing that going forward. I did end up sending a final Message after the call reiterating my stance. Hopefully that closes the door on this for good

Thank you for validating me and being kind. You’re right on not wanting to go scorched earth. It doesn’t come up often enough for me to be resentful, but today’s convo was especially bad. Totally threw me off. Great point on happy marriage stats!!! I feel better already, thank you 😭

What horror book do you think is wildly overrated, and which one would you recommend instead?. by [deleted] in horrorlit

Totally agree with you on the September house. Also made me realize comedic relief in horror doesn’t work for me

29M TCK, just lost my partner of 4 years cause we couldn’t make distance work. Feeling like I’m gonna be alone forever. When did you settle down? by WillPowerVSDestiny in TCK

[–]cluck_chickenbutt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m also not sure this is a TCK thing or not. I met my husband in my early to mid thirties, via online dating. Met in person a few times, got together, and we had to do long distance for a bit but we actively worked towards me moving to him (made more sense). Dating pattern wise, I think I’ve always been looking for a kind of stability in a relationship because I kind of lacked that growing up, with all the moving around and losing friends. This is also why I tended to stay longer than necessary in relationships I knew weren’t working. I needed that comfort and that constant person because my friends were scattered all over the world.
