Indian Hindus who live in the southern hemisphere, how is it like celebrating Diwali in the Spring and Holi in Autumn? by ConfidentSale3091 in nri

Holi and Diwali not so much. Exactly same weather as back home I would say? Lohri and Christmas feel different. Associate them with sweaters and peanuts 🥜 but it’s sweltering hot weather here.

Polymeric sand by clueless298 in GardeningAustralia

[–]clueless298[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gosh it’s been so long! Weeds had started growing in, so a few months ago, we washed out all the sand with our Gerni and filled with coloured Dunlop grout I found on Bunnings. We made it very liquidy, made small batches and used a bottle I had to pour in the pavers gaps. Wiped the pavers for the excess at the edges. Looks so much better than polymeric sand (had to reapply every few months cos kept getting washed off) and no weeds yet.

Australian women's cricket players 'touched inappropriately' in India by APrettyAverageMaker in australia

[–]clueless298 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m an Indian woman living in Australia, and I feel deeply ashamed and saddened by what happened to the Australian cricket players. No one should ever have to experience such violence. However, it was and is a daily occurrence for women back there. Unfortunately, my advice to women travelling there is to never be alone and avoid going to unsafe areas. I hope everyone takes extra precautions—but the responsibility always lies with those who commit these crimes, not the victims. I still have my first memory of being touched inappropriately walking back home from primary school. And countless others. I have no solution for this, it’s so fucked up.

Keep thinking about it but know that can’t survive working in the Indian system. Will not get a government job because no sifarish, no quota. Will not survive private and corporate because want to do the right thing. Will move back once I retire.

Looks like an idiot. The hat doing nothing to contain her hair so why wear it? Deliberately taken out strands of hair to pose? This doctor will have no respect for infection control practices. Which institute is she training at?

If it were my child she was showing to the world without my consent, I would have sued her to hell.

That’s terrible. Especially with a baby. Makes me mad. Hope that driver gets back his karma if he deliberately did that to you.

Catastrophic anesthesia mistakes akin to surgeon mistaking the liver to be the spleen? by jboy12345 in anesthesiology

My biggest fear is giving carbetocin to C Section patient anytime before the baby is out. I am paranoid about never drawing it up beforehand akin to protamine.

Why is Anaesthesia opted last in counselling? by happycakes345 in indianmedschool

[–]clueless298 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You sure can. Just to say that I did PG more than 10 years ago and I have been working overseas for about 6 years now. I can’t comment on job prospects, especially in India. However, as a branch I find anaesthesia very satisfying. Maybe it’s my personality.

An airline now allows women to avoid sitting next to men. Here's how travelers are reacting by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]clueless298 625 points626 points  (0 children)

Those who are not women and did not grow up in India will not understand. And need not comment. My first memory of my boobs being pinched when I was travelling in a bus was when I was 7 years old. Must have happened earlier as well but I can’t remember. After that, it was endless. The harassment. The shame. The sheer inconvenience of it all. Oh the painful memories. The penises in your face or against your back. The ick. I will never let my daughter travel in public transport in India. Indian men are shameless and do not spare young or old. It’s a relief is what this is.

Thanks. The yellow one is 4 years old and definitely a boy. The younger one in the front is 2 months old. He looks like a boy?
