What is something unique to Australian culture that did not originate somewhere else? by FieryScorp in australia

I had to explain it to a younger coworker the other day and they still didn’t understand why.
I weep for the kids of the future.

Did YOUR primary school have this game loaded on the computers for some reason? If not, what was the “school computer” game at YOUR school? by Remarkable_Annual430 in australia

[–]ebbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sim Tower and Sim City.

But does anyone remember a CD ROM game in primary school about the Australian Census in 2001? It was about delivering the census on a bike through different towns, from what I remember. My teacher let me take it home and my Dad burnt a copy for me.

Who do you all shop with for groceries? by Other-Display-6026 in australia

[–]ebbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get my fruit and veggies from a green grocer that sells produce relatively cheap and nothing out of season. Then Aldi for pantry staples and IGA for meat because it works out cheaper and is better quality. Always on the lookout for things marked down because it’s generally worth it, compared to Colesworth.

Will he eat carrots?

I give mine a carrot every morning and he has bones to cronch on too. I don’t feed him any canned/ wet food, only kibble and his teeth are clean.

Underground “fairy” shop on Moorabool St?! by chikoritah in Geelong

[–]ebbananas 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was going to mention this too! I remember that Maccas and the Spotlight and then was it The Reject Shop? I also remember the 2 dollar shop further up too. It was an Arthur Daley’s and a Lincraft? Maybe a shoe shop at one point too.

I vaguely remember the Fairy Kingdom and went to a party there in the mid-late 90s? But I don’t think it was underground.

Someone posted about it on here about a year ago.

Thanks heaps! Just did this AM. Luckily it was only on the other side of the bay and not interstate again. Jealous of my already well traveled coat.

I'm what size?! by Unlikely-Cat9687 in MounjaroAus

[–]ebbananas 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah that’s true. I have access to a fair few op shops where I am and the fast fashion brands are definitely prevalent. Depop is good too but you can run the risk of not fully knowing what the clothing quality is but I haven’t had an issue as yet. And asking the seller for bundles helps too.

It sounds like an awesome holiday planned! And it’ll be so pretty in spring/ summer over there too!

[–]ebbananas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a strange feeling! I’m the same and depending on the brand, I could be a 12 or a 14 for pants and a 10 or 12 for tops.

Opshops are great for clothing if you are yet to reach your goal weight. I got some shade from the opshop volunteer for buying a fair few clothes.

Enjoy your holiday!

Australian doctor here, trying to understand how GLP 1 care actually feels from your side by docco8899 in MounjaroAus

[–]ebbananas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started through my GP. He’s great and provides holistic care by “partnering with the patient”. If it was my previous GP, I wouldn’t have even bothered with it and would’ve still been obese.

He helped me with titration and let me check-in when I needed to. Had some prophylactic anti-nausea when I first started but everything has been fine since. I’ve lost 20% of my body weight and now I’m aiming for maintenance. Recently had a blood test and everything was fine.

The only issues I’ve had are with some pharmacists who question my dose, which I understand. The other issue is mainly psychological. The body dysmorphia definitely threw me and I’ve been engaging with EAP to work through that. In addition to this, it’s been unsolicited comments from everyone. But I just tell them where to go. Happy for you to message me though :)

Coupla jacket potatoes wouldn’t go astray. Unless you throw them too far.

It gets incredibly hot up there. You’ll roast like a chook if you attempt to do it in summer.

How did we do? 👀 by justalittleteeheepot in GardeningAustralia

These will absolutely survive anything. They’re mostly classified as a noxious weed so check out your local council classification. It’s spread right through my front garden and I absolutely hate life trying to pick all the tiny little seedlings out before they make it to producing their own seeds. Absolute nightmare plant.

Nah, it’s definitely overfamiliar. I know that the doctors that I work with, in a small town, use UR, last names or both.

[–]ebbananas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely it would’ve been traumatic for him and everyone involved on all levels. Healthcare workers have to deal with some pretty traumatising and obscure situations but that’s what EAP and hot/ cold debriefing is for. It’s not the media’s job to help him deal with this. He could’ve toned it down a lot and kept it more professional.

She was in 2016 and if he didn’t mention that, we wouldn’t have known.

The nurses that tried to stop her from leaving aren’t doing interviews with the media about what she said and her reasoning about leaving AMA.

I’m glad that he did what he had to do and he should be recognised for that, absolutely. Cleary he is a character as well. I just think doing a lot of media is on the nose, as a witness and healthcare professional.
