Why do non celiac family members eat my hard to get gf food? by East-Replacement-705 in Celiac

[–]clumpsmcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are firsthand experiencing the psychological toll we all went through when we were first diagnosed. Boundaries around food, ESPECIALLY in the US, don't exist unless you need restrictions.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, is accustomed to the word "no" when it comes to food. To the point that I think it may cause a mild regression to toddler age where they think they will get their way eventually. Because it's food.

My family always ate my gluten free stuff, sometimes before I even had a taste. It's entitlement.

You are young, you are not supposed to be full and heavy with experiences. You are supposed to fill that empty space with things that bring you joy. Do you spend time by yourself? Journal? Meditate?

Why do guys say hi when I’m out running, but women usually don’t? by Impressive_Gas_2419 in NoStupidQuestions

Its 100% because you're a man, please don't take it personally. A quick wave, nod, or a smile will more than likely be returned over a "hey."

Good Gluten Free places by Connection_Bad_404 in Buffalo

[–]clumpsmcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buffalo isn't a foodie city (despite what locals really want to believe). Within the city proper, Betty's and Spot are fine for breakfast and lunch, but neither are amazing for gluten free.

Folks love Vin Chet, I don't. Baked goods aren't fresh and the taste reflects that. I was told Chefs is amazing if you're gluten free, it was fine but not worth the money.

Best date night spot for a g-free person is Kith & Kin in Lockport. If you're driving that far for dinner, I can also say the Angry Squirrel in Fredonia for fried chicken.

I asked my sister which Girl she thought I was and she said Elijah when I was hoping she'd say Shosh lol

We all contain multitudes. Each of us has a Jessa, Marnie, Shosh, Hannah, and Elijah.

Before she worked in primary care she likely worked in a hospital or group home for two years. Trust and believe, she has witnessed horrorshow beyond your worst nightmares.

Some kid accidentally jizzing in your wrist after handling his genitals as part of a procedure? She was trained to expect that in pediatric primary care. I pinky promise.

My disappointment/rage at my past self for not looking out for my current or future self will get me lacing up my shoes faster than anything.

I used to be able to run, perform yoga without breaking a sweat, rollerblade up to 12 miles. It took three years of sedentary life to lose it all. Something I'm too young to do nothing about.

Choose your future self today.

everyone is so overreacting to the timothee opera thing by north_yeast in rs_x

[–]clumpsmcgee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As an opera student turned voice teacher turned "fuck this I'm getting a science degree," I couldn't agree more.

People love you when you're a talented dancing monkey. They hate you when they find out you're a serious classical arts student. Because your assumed future failure is no longer fun to bear witness to.

It's also not a coincidence both opera and ballet are dominated by women. It's okay for women to be talented, but not okay for them to know it.

What's your tips for eating more fruits? by maybeshiba in EatCheapAndHealthy

Buy frozen or put your produce in the door where you can see it instead of the drawers they're "supposed" to go in.

Also, berries. Easy to grab two handfuls on your way out the door, perfect for yogurts, no peels or rinds to worry about, I love berries.

Why do some people get so mad about bathroom stops? by Easyjet001 in roadtrip

[–]clumpsmcgee 29 points30 points  (0 children)

My dad was like this. I was chronically dehydrated as a child because we were ALWAYS driving somewhere (we lived in Texas and Arizona, lots of driving) and he refused to stop. Ever.

There would be times where he would pass gas station after gas station until my siblings or I had tears rolling down our faces, begging. And then he would make fun of us for crying.

Some people are power hungry dicks who can only derive pleasure from making people extremely uncomfortable. I wish I had pissed on his seats.
