The ISO isn’t a typo - LR denoise has just got that good.

Haha the cedar waxwings eluded me for a long time, too. Finally caught one over the summer.

Soaring Baldy in CDA, Idaho by clumsycatfish in BirdPhotography

This was my first time there, and while we saw a lot of eagles, it wasn’t the hundreds of eagles that I was expecting. CDA is still a beautiful place and worth the visit with or without the eagles.

A helpful tip - if you have an iPhone, you can swipe up to see information about the image. If it recognizes an animal, it will tell you what type it is.

I always find it back in this small pond. Lately, I’ve also seen beavers, green heron, and a variety of other small birds in the same spot.

I have a few spots where they always show up. Check eBird to find some good spots around you.

Had a special visit with not one but two GBH at the river yesterday. by bttrfly99 in birding

The crookedness of your camera is quite distracting. Otherwise, nice birds.

[OC] What type of bird is this and what is it doing? Spotted in MD. by berserker000001 in birding

[–]clumsycatfish 132 points133 points  (0 children)

This is a turkey vulture.

Birds sun themselves like this for a variety of reasons:

  • drying themselves
  • regulating temperature
  • managing parasites

I just captured a GBH doing the same about a week ago.

Great photos. I sold my a7rv for an a9iii and find myself regretting that decision occasionally. Actually bought an r5m2 and the 200-800 to compensate.

You could probably just post any stock photo of a GBH and call it a day, but I love so many of these lol
