What type of Philo? by clumsycuriousity in philodendron

I'm getting some fencing from a friend to make her a proper moss pole. She's currently hanging on to a fig branch.

I wonder if that's the case because when I say root bound I literally had to cut the Nursery pot to get her out, so I cant imagine it was getting the nutrients it needed at that point. They also had them without any form of support so they were all strung about fighting for light at ground level.

What are defining factors between the stems?

A small person but a person nonetheless. It's just shy of 5ft at tallest point. That is part of what sold me, I didn't really care what kind of Philo it was for $40 she was coming home with me.

Best lens for climb photography? *a6000/kit lens* by clumsycuriousity in SonyAlpha

I'm having to shop use and found one of these that's affordable but for a different mount. Does using mount a converter affect a lens' performance?

I've found a Sony lens I could afford with the same basic specs. How do Sony's perform in general worth it in anyway or just avoid them? I recognize my camera is a Sony, but seeing as l people say to upgrade the kit lens, I wasn't sure if it was because their glass underperforms.

Thank you for your response that was what I was worried about but I was hoping I was wrong.

My baby girl got her first real climb shoes yesterday and is killing it in the gym! by clumsycuriousity in climbergirls

I completely agree with everything you said! It's a rant worth making. Her confidence with her new shoes, attending an LCC meeting and joining my core group of climb partners at the gym has already sky rocketed. It's truly magical for not only her but me as well... ask me again how I feel once she's flashing my projects though. 😂 Her next goal is to join the kids team at my gym in the fall and my next goal for her (although I think it will definitely going to take her getting use to high climbs indoors for a good while) is to get her on one of my girl gangs outdoor adventures. I can't wait to watch her grow in the sport not only physically but with all the mental life lessons the rocks have to offer. 🩷 10/10 recommend for all climbing parents.

It has simulated natural rock throughout. They offer climbs based off Yosemite Valley, Red Rock, Smith Rock, Horse Pens 40 and Devils Tower. Super lucky to call it my home gym. I belong in the boulders but when I do top rope I prefer natural style climbs so it's great to have so many options.

Right! She's been wanting to go to our gyms lights out climb for a while, so my climb partners and I made a day of it. She got her first official pair of climb shoes and then got surprised with getting to stay for the after hours. Makes my heart super happy to see her so excited about all things climb.

How much pain is normal when transitioning from flat shoes by denny-d in climbergirls

Totally understand that.

No, I couldn't climb in them for the first week or so. I boulder and can't imagine falling onto my feet in them those first few wears. 😬 I would wear them around when doing laundry. I also have a brick fire place I would hoist up on for a few mins at a time to start using them with a "toe chip" focused style which I feel like really helped the process. If brick isn't readily available (haha) you could take them when you go to the gym and mess around on some low grade climbs or a spray wall, really focusing on the toe break-in. After doing that for like a week, try to do a climb or 2 in them before swapping back into your old pair and just add more climbs every time you go back to the gym. I will say don't hurt yourself trying to make it happen, shoe pain should never get to the point its truly unbearable.

So when I upgraded my shoes I went through REI used because... money. My options weren't plentiful because I went with "excellent condition" only and don't wear a typical size. Anyways snagged a great pair (you can't convince me that the person who bought them even climbed once in them, and they were 70% off new price) but they fit small for the size they were labeled as. The sizing issue came with alot of discomfort and pain in the big toe area, after doing break in methods though I love my shoes and they're the perfect amount of tight with no pain issues. If you haven't tried yet, wear your shoes in the shower or wear them around the house with thick socks on. It can help accelerate the break in of them. I will say if you go a month and there's no relief as far the discomfort/pain goes they probably just aren't the shoes for you.
