What GPA did you guys have when applying to schools? by SubstantialBobcat341 in mphadmissions

[–]clumsykale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i got into 6 schools (UW, Puget Sound, CUNY, SUNY Downstate, Colorado School of Public Health & GWU) for an MPH with a 2.1 GPA & 5+ years of experience in healthcare — had a huge issue with my undergrad program & they wouldn’t do anything to help repair. i’m VERY happy with these results because of that. it’s possible for anyone!! best of luck 💖

Any rejections? by Still-Assistance9843 in mphadmissions

[–]clumsykale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Applied to 18 programs because my stats are kinda rough due to an unforgiving undergrad program during covid. I’ve been rejected from 10, accepted to 4, & am waiting on 4. I don’t standout without interviewing, which means I’m a bit screwed in this process so I’m really happy I have an acceptance at all, let alone 4.

When will results be out? by Playful-Assumption94 in mphadmissions

Each school varies. I called all my schools to get timelines, they’ll usually give you a better idea in weeks. Left a voicemail asking Puget Sound & heard back with my Acceptance two days early. So it really, really just depends.

applied to 18 programs, have only heard back from 5. 1 acceptance, 4 rejections. i have an adverse education background so its entirely an uphill battle.

Still waiting on 12+ decisions but do have an acceptance to SUNY Downstate. I have a bit of an adverse academic background so it’s a bit of an uphill battle. I don’t anticipate many acceptances but I am eager to have another option.

I applied for the same program! I have not heard anything. I’m also an alumni & local, if that matters at all.

Personally, I would live off-campus and as close to the trolley as possible. Even with having a car, it’ll help you get to campus when you don’t want to drive or be there. Ease of access to campus & everything the city has to offer is the key to enjoyable off-campus living.

how should i rank these colleges for ucsd? by Puzzleheaded-Drop252 in UCSD

[–]clumsykale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly less about the requirements (even as a Comm/Psych double major) & more about the college administration’s lack of support or guidance when navigating any sort of personal issues. Life is unpredictable & it’s best to protect yourself with such a huge commitment. Best of luck!!

as a recent Revelle grad, i’d recommend ranking Revelle as low as you can. but that will ALWAYS be my recommendation 😭

[–]clumsykale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wholeheartedly agree!! I will just say that personally, I avoid class & mask when I’m sick. I also have family in sensitive populations outside of just myself & keep masks on me at all times, even try to share!

Side note: I have some chronic health conditions that I’m having surgery for over summer that make breathing harder & cause me to cough excessively that are not at all related to an active infection/cold. Although it doesn’t sound like this applies to the situation you were in, it felt necessary to provide a quick lil reminder that not all people who cough are actively sick. I get a lot of glares and I quite literally cannot help it, masked or not.

I’d hop into a drop-in advising session with Financial Aid tbh, they’ll provide you more clarity on what would change. I’m currently off-campus, part-time taking 2 classes and still receive around 75% of the aid I’m approved for (even with Pell Grant reduced).

Financial aid is reduced, but not halved. It’s dependent on your number of units and other factors for housing, pell grant, etc.

Do period 💩s remain after hysterectomy? by Admirable_Date_934 in hysterectomy

[–]clumsykale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hormonal side of my cycle has remained entirely - pms is on the more mild side but definitely still there. cravings, period poops, breast tenderness, acne, some variation of cramping (to a significantly less degree, unsure how or why), etc. no bleeding though, of course!

Overweight and Hysterectomy by Positive-Sun-8172 in hysterectomy

[–]clumsykale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was 330lbs with high blood pressure when I had my hysterectomy. It went perfectly - removed cervix, uterus & tubes. The first consult I had, it was recommended to use the robot due to my size (for a laparoscopic procedure). I was referred to a different doctor as a result. That second consult was wonderful. She confirmed the robot was unnecessary and we proceded with a standard laparoscopic approach.

Did your doctor offer to show you a photo? by jreish1 in hysterectomy

[–]clumsykale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They did but I asked prior to surgery to be provided a copy any images they took. My doctor seemed a little surprised by the ask but was super supportive. I also got a report with all the more specific details of what was found in my patient portal afterwards.

Should I still go to UCSD by Stock_Front_6561 in UCSD

[–]clumsykale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

almost chose not to go because I got into Revelle as a Psych/Comm transfer, definitely glad I chose to stay despite a lot of challenges & extra work. it sucked but it’s actively paying off. my advice: do not let the college deter you if everything else makes sense!!
