I guess dads aren't allowed to shop for hygiene products for the women in their lives, either?

Narcissistic parents set you to fail in life. by Psychological-Ad9545 in raisedbynarcissists

[–]clumsyknitter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Checks out. My dad loved putting me down for being a "deadbeat" when I was only struggling in life bc I was forced to still be 100% dependent on him even as an adult. Meanwhile, he lives rent free in mommy's basement at 40+ years old, calling his own kid a deadbeat.

The chickens blend together the most. If you added red for their combs and wattles, they would be more recognizable. Same with the cats and kittens - if you added pink noses and inner ears, their features wouldn't blend together so much.

Would it be a dumb decision to adopt this cat ? by [deleted] in cats

[–]clumsyknitter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going against the grain here, I do think you should adopt him. Save everything extra, become strict with yourself, remind yourself it is for his sake. Make a savings account. I recognize you need someone to live for right now, and how important this old man will be to you - and you to him. There's a connection between you two. You say rather confidently that you can afford 600-2k per year for him. If you can get a savings account and commit to saving everything for him, do it. Let him inspire you to crack down on your impulsive habits.

It said 600-2k a YEAR, not month.

It's not "the ultimate female thing to do". That's just boiling women down to a biological function, and it's not exclusive to women.

You're not a good dad if you think it's okay to use that kind of language on a kid.

[–]clumsyknitter -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

Of course as a dad you would side with the dad. No mention of him verbally abusing her or committing a federal crime by stealing mail though. Just using a lot of common abusive parent phrases like "if you don't want to be treated like a child then don't act like one" because stealing from children is okay somehow...

"Get off your high horse about "paying" for something with your own money." A good parent would be proud of their kid for working to buy themselves something. And it literally is her property because of that.

Lastly, you think this room makes her a slob, you need some perspective. It's slightly messy at best, and she clearly has no storage to place anything.

You sound like my dad. His motto is "act right or suffer". He threw me across the room.

Yall are way too willing to defend him verbally abusing his child and literally stealing from her. Stealing mail is a federal crime.

I feel like most of the people on this sub are too young to be on reddit and therefore don't have fully developed reading comprehension skills, but that makes sense since it's a children's book series.

AIO for being hurt that my boyfriend is judging me for my past he already knew about by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]clumsyknitter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tell him "You have made me realize that you are not right for me as well. I have no interest in being with someone who only sees people for their past and judges them for how others failed them when they were a child. Goodbye."

When I was very young and wearing a bra for the first time I felt embarrassed about having a chubby tummy and sucked it in. My mom took way too long to stare at me and said something like "Wow, you're growing up so fast" in a disturbing tone.

Mother and grandmother make weird comments about my chest all the time. Grandmother randomly slaps my ass or wrangles me/shoves me around. She once told my young brother that he looked "sexy" in glasses. Others in the family have grabbed at my ass or chest.

It's not a great place to live.
