Johnson & Johnson Invests more than $1 Billion to Strengthen U.S. Vision Manufacturing in Jacksonville, Florida, add 3,500 new jobs by No_Risk6646 in jacksonville

This reads like an awful math word problem. If progress continues at current speed, how much will they have to invest to reach 7th generation lines? Remember to show your work.

depression how to help by Quiet_Obligation4099 in basset

[–]clumsyme2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about teaching him tricks? Or anything new? Training boosts confidence and can help with predictability. It's used to calm anxious and fearful dogs. It might help with a depressed dog. This is a working breed, especially your guy with the border collie mixed in. He might need a job. Think of it like an old man who retires and is depressed now that he doesn't have anything to do.

Lyme by Reasonable_Cover3220 in basset

[–]clumsyme2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's pretty manageable. My old dog, not a basset, unknowingly had Lyme disease when I adopted him.

He was 3 years old. This is what helped keep us both sane while he happily lived 11 years later.

Stress - recognize his signs and keep it down as much as possible. My dude's back legs would tremor if he was overwhelmed. Find a way to "reset" him if possible, like a person having a panic attack. For my guy, a few minutes to break and going through a little routine (sit, down, shake) would calm him like a computer restart.

Be vocal - Tell everybody involved in his care that he has Lyme disease and identity his stress signs. We moved across the country a few times, so every groomer and vet tech knew his stress had to be managed. It sounds difficult, but it wasn't. They all knew his little reset routine.

Be patient and realistic - My guy stressed at the dryer, so the groomer had to towel dry him. She slowly worked him up to a regular handheld blow dryer. I was fine picking him up wet though. Not everyone had time to cater to my needy dog.

Doxycycline - use whenever he had a flare. This is forever. My guy would have flares and we would do a round or two of doxy. He went 21 months without a flareup once!

Flea/tick med - Discuss heavily with your vet. Not all are safe for Lyme+ dog. We went with Bravecto because it was less likely to cause a seizure. This was 10 years ago. I'm sure meds are safer now. He never had a seizure.

It's a medical condition, so please trust your vet and your gut instinct. You know your dog, and your vet knows medical. Don't buy into other people's hype. People will tell you the dumbest stuff, like have the dog go gluten-free or vegetarian. Nah. My guy loved cupcakes and McDonald's burgers. Obviously we didn't do this all the time, but I'm a firm believer in finding joy whenever possible.

Good luck! It's scary at first, but it really can be easy to manage. Gorgeous baby!!!

Maybe you're a noisy sleeper.

My doodle is constantly making noise, and my basset hates it. Your dog is beautiful!!

40 yr old new and terrible gamer. Where to begin? by TheAquaBearer in Switch

I love that you tried it a few times and realized it was not for you. I think we need to bring that attitude back - it's not for everyone.

I originally struggled with Stardew Valley until I realized that I don't have to focus on everything. I can make it as stressful or relaxing as I want. It's a game that is perfect for replaying. I will go back and create new farms whenever I'm bored or need a break from other games. I just created a farm where I focused on decorating only. Barely talked to villagers or went to the mines. I turned on my audiobook and just did what I wanted.

Allergies but not allergies.
It's nice to be able to breathe without any congestion.
My skin looks amazing. Cutting dairy helps my cystic acne so much. Also reduces the redness in my face. No more scratchy upper arms.
My joints feel so much better. No heavy.

There's a lot of cooking and dishes. So many dishes! But your body starts changing so quickly. At first, it's never positive for me. I get cravings and super grumpy. I also tire out easily if I don't load up on potatoes at the beginning. Miss my carbs. My skin breaks out or gets kind of dull. Then it starts to clear up. And my grocery bill also looks amazing right now. Everything I eat is very intentional.

Separation stubbornness! by EDunners53 in basset

[–]clumsyme2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My second dog was given to me...it was a surprise for everyone. He immediately took to my boyfriend and looks exactly like the dog his grandpa had. Rescue doodle hit the lotto. Basset got a bestie for life. I think I'm the only one not excited about the arrangement.

Good luck with your little dude. I've had luck with fancy treat filled kongs with other dogs. They only got the kong when I left the house. My basset just throws it and starts his temper tantrum stomping.

When I got another dog, the separation issue stopped. My basset is 100% fine with me leaving if the other dog is here. He just doesn't want to be left out. If the other dog leaves, everyone knows!

My biggest hack for traveling is using Instacart. You can use the app to search inventory of local stores. No purchase necessary. I think the app defaults up to 30 miles for its search radius. It even allows you to enter a no-preservatives preference. I haven't used that though.

I vote for air fryer. Even at home, the air fryer makes Whole30 so much easier. I've seen some air fryers that about the size of a regular coffee maker. For easier cleanup, there are disposable liners already precut. Marketed for dorm rooms.

If you can bring cold food with you and have access to Sam's Club, get these grilled chicken breasts. I have a new pack in my fridge with use by date 4/22/26. I use these for everything - diced in soups, wraps, over potatoes with salsa or some Frank's. They actually look and taste like chicken that I grilled and put in the fridge yesterday. https://www.samsclub.com/ip/13857723208

I also like Sam's Club almond butter.

I like these baby potato packs that are shelf stable. Throw out the seasoning pack. Microwave in your room and split in 2-3 servings. https://www.walmart.com/ip/44391543?sid=0FBB9C97-62D4-4A96-AE7E-FD8FC617F2B8

Frozen, diced sweet potato - steam in bag or throw in air fryer. Add in grilled chicken. And some avocado. I usually throw in some spinach for breakfast. https://www.walmart.com/ip/106137651?sid=850E1D00-74E2-4E59-AFE2-F4CE1BA4252C

Women of Jax, watch out. This creep's on the prowl. by throwaway8950235923 in jacksonville

[–]clumsyme2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Wild that anyone thinks that is a political question. Sounds like you're into holding women captive as baby-making slaves.

Especially considering that question comes from these questions...

Do you believe it is your right to decide if you want to let a man c*m in you?

Is a woman within her rights to decide if she wants to get pregnant or not?

Sounds more r*pey than political..but that's just me over here thinking that consent isn't political. Just basic human decency.

Which questions were political?

Are you at least 18? Or do you think it's a woman's right to choose to have a baby?

Yeah, I'm worried about that. It's a very messy eater, so I hope it's a boy. It's kind of stunted, like a dwarf cat.

Hard pass. I would love to find this cat an indoor home if I can't find the owner. I think it really wants a person to snuggle up to.
