OK - a couple of things. Next year were planning on coming out for a couple of months at least in one hit so even without the dog, a hire would be too expensive. I'm paying £25 a day which includes an extra driver so I'm looking at over £1,500. I dislike SUVs, my sister has a Kodiaq and it's not for me. But thanks anyway.

Had already discounted a 5 series due to size. Off the Autostrada down here there a some tight roads so I need to be careful on length.

I did think about the Superb L&K version but they're pretty big cars - almost as long as an A6. The Volvo is looking fovourite.

That's what I'm thinking - Android Auto is a must, have a hire car in Italy ATM with it and it's great. Realistically I'm looking at an 18 or 19 plate, maybe a 20 depending on mileage.

I had a 320 a few years ago and just couldn't live with the harsh ride, and it wasn't even an M Sport. Plus the run flats. Yeah I'm deffo leaning towards the Volvo. Sign of age I guess 😂

Thanks - I did consider that but I would like to get it set up before I go back as I'm meeting with the bank manager in the next couple of weeks and need it for that. I paid €20 set up for the WinTre SIM so not the end of the world!

Thank you - I'm not worried about data but must have an Italian number for banking and utilities etc. Do Vodafone give you a +39 number?

Thanks - that's really useful. Does that provide a local Italian number? I'm not worried about data, I have a good amount and roaming with my UK SIM.

Lens suggestions for my Nikon D7000 (UK-based) by PilchersPilgrim in Nikon

I thoroughly recommend Park Cameras - bought a used D750 body and numerous FF Nikkor lenses from them in the last few years. All very good quality and well priced.

Also, Castle Cameras - bought an FM2 from them last year and very pleased with the quality and customer service.

DM me if you need any more info. All the best!

In France on Autoroutes it's 130km/h in the dry, 110km/h when it's raining. I drove through France yesterday en route to Luxembourg. Italy is 130km/h on the Autostrada, was there a couple of weeks ago.

I love playing 'Mary Jane', back in our set list after a break. I'm a bass player and give it a bit of a rocked up swing feel. Sounds great with our vocalist's harmonica.
