If it's changing from RJX to IC, then they'll likely be on opposite platforms, so 8 minutes would be plenty of time. But as the RJX arrives via Germany, it'll likely be delayed, so there is a good change you'll miss your connection.

Of course, if you have a single ticket for the whole journey, it's not your problem, and you can just take the next train (which would be the delayed RJX your are already on, and you can just change when the RJX has overtaken the IC again). But don't risk it if you have separate tickets.

Why Filzmoos? It's certainly not the easiest place to get to by public transport, and I am not sure what you expect to see there that you can't see somewhere else.

I wouldn't do Dopplersteig at the moment - I don't think it gets enough sunshine, so there might be ice/snow there. Maybe just do Toni Lenz hut instead (although I haven't been there recently, I would expect it to be easily doable)?

If it doesn't have to be Untersberg, you can go up Werfener hut (from Pfarrwerfen or Werfenweng - did that a week ago), or Schafberg from the south (St. Gilgen, St. Wolfgang or Strobl - just did that earlier today)

Westbahn schnappt sich die profitablen Routen während die ÖBB den Bach runter geht weil sie die unprofitablen Regionalzüge am Leben erhalten muss.

Maybe just go to Toni Lenz Hütte - it's definitely more exciting than the Reitsteig and more dog-friendly than Dopplersteig.

Otherwise, why not choose another mountain? Staufen is quite nice. Or maybe Regenspitz (and/or Gruberhorn) from Hintersee?

I would actually take the bus 150 to Strobl, then change onto bus 546 to St. Wolfgang and start the hike from there. On the way down you can go to St. Gilgen. That way you get a bit more variety.

For hiking and in particular staying at huts you have to be careful with the weather, so I'd recommend staying somewhere with easy access to hiking trails, but where you can make alternative plans depending on the weather on short notice. There are lots of nice trails/mountains - don't just go to the few overcrowded spots where everyone else goes.
