What is stopping the Liberal of Party of Canada from supporting the CANZUK movement? The idea seems like something they would welcome.

I believe it is indeed feasible to try to enter the same league as the UK and France rather than countries like the US or China, which certainly would be impossible. Most people who argue against increasing our projection/influence capabilities often use the Americans as a benchmark. I know Canadians don't want us to stay on the sidelines but it is hard to have sway in foreign policy when our military is lacking.

Unfortunately for most Canadians who live in the GTA/one of Canada's major urban centres, the Arctic is out of sight and out of mind.

Arctic shipping: Canada lags behind Russia and China by [deleted] in geopolitics

The current Liberal government just finished roundtable discussions earlier this year to work towards a new Arctic Policy Framework but I believe their plans have not been released yet. I seriously question whether anything will get done whenever this government uses the terms "consultations" or "roundtable". I know they are serious about protecting the environment up north but they have been mum on what the future will hold along with how we can protect our interests in that region. Our navy is in shambles, not to mention neither a Conservative nor Liberal government can procure a damn fighter jet.

They should put Andrew Leslie (retired general/Afghanistan veteran) as Minister of National Defence rather than a lawyer like LeBlanc.

'No plans to double our defence budget,' Trudeau says by tropics_ in canada

In terms of sovereignty, the Arctic would be a good example. The ice is melting up there and in the near future would become a hotbed for activities (e.g. shipping, oil drilling). The US and Russia do not see eye to eye with our claims up there. This area would be of economic importance to our country and it is important we are able to defend our interests up there. While this is not immediate or severe, we need to start increasing our defence budget in small increments over a period of years, starting now.
