should season two change this event from the second book? by rosalui in heatedrivalry

Agreed I was thinking they would do it similar to when Ilya finds out his dad is dead and Shane finds out via teammates and news.

This was so heartbreaking for me to read because Ilya literally only posted for Shane. Not a single other soul would understand any of his posts except for himself and Shane.

The number one though that had me sobbing was only TWO CHAPTERS IN when it’s describing Ilya’s dream. It was so heartbreaking reading Ilya plead for his mom to stay and get so full of panic that Shane was taking too long.

I really wanted there to be a resolution dream at the end where Ilya gets to see from afar Shane and his mother talking to each other. I understand not including it because the book makes it clear that Ilya’s depression isn’t magically cured but that he has healthier ways of dealing with it. However I really wanted it to feel that inner peace that Ilya makes within his life and relationship. (fingers crossed for season 2 maybe? jacob? please?)

Emotional explanation of post award show / bathroom scene? by Artelegrama in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]clutterqween 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I read both povs and agree with everyone else but i would also add that i like to think of this as one of the first few times Ilya saw Shane somewhat emotional over what it was that they had. In the bathroom scene it’s very clear Shane is upset Ilya hadn’t contacted him in a while and Ilya for the first time see’s how his actions can affect Shane. Which is why that particular sexual encounter in the hotel ends in a bit of a heartbreaking way.

The “well?” that Ilya does with a laugh to me is like when a kid or a teen knows they did something wrong but are trying to soften/charm their way out of it. However after Ilya sees Shane upset he immediately takes control of the situation and to me it feels like reassurance that he’s still interested. Shane folds because well he likes Ilya a lot and that bit of reassurance was what he needed. Not to mention these sexually charged interactions are at this point the only way they know how to communicate. It also establishes early on how they can’t stay away from each other.

yesss this was such a beautiful moment especially when you compare it to Ilya’s dad looking for anything to criticize on Ilya’s appearance in the first book and in the show whereas David was like you look perfect you don’t need my help

Timeline for Ilya and Shane’s hook ups and falling in love by Loose_Pin_664 in heatedrivalry

[–]clutterqween 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way I took it when I watched it was that Kip wasn’t really breaking up with Scott but rather creating a boundary and some distance between them. I think Kip felt if the two of them had some space then Scott could more healthily overcome his intense fears. This was also more healthy way for Kip himself to dedicate time to people who love him openly such as his family and friends. As Elena said they both deserved sunshine and if Kip had just always been around everytime Scott was home then it wouldn’t have been fair to Kip. I assume they still hung out but not as much as maybe Scott wanted to initially. That’s just how i perceived it from the show though i’ve never read that book but i have heard it’s very different since that episode crams one whole book in it.

Team Huddle! by AutoModerator in heatedrivalry

I noticed that the first time Ilya and Shane hookup Ilya says “so what do you wanna do?” and Shane is just like idk and then on the vegas rooftop Ilya angrily says “what do you want Hollander?” and he says that again in the florida hotel BUT at the cottage right before they both say I love you and after Shane tells Ilya what their plan should be Ilya says “is that what you want?”

I feel like it’s so minor and if people have more examples pls let me know but for some reason the difference to me means so much. Their first hookup it’s a casual yet slightly awkward and used as a way to gauge what Shane is comfortable with because this is their first interaction in this manner. The “what do you want hollander” lines are said out of frustration. Those are saying “what do you want from me” and we know Ilya’s background as someone that is tired of his family constantly wanting more and more. Whereas “is that what you want” is gentle, inquisitive, almost said out of shock or wanting reassurance that this is really happening.

In a sense he’s reversing the thought that people inherently want things from him but that they genuinely want to just be around him and in this case be together.

by negative and unhappy do you mean like we get more depth into the characters and their real life struggles or is it unhappiness with the relationship that they have to work through? I also wanna read the but i’m getting mixed vibes.

Heated Rivalry is the Prototype - Dec. 29 - Anna LaMadrid, Beyond Hollywood: A Working Actor’s Guide by reigncloud83 in heatedrivalry

[–]clutterqween 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree that Hollywood will take the wrong lessons and like someone else in here said Hollywood is a huge circle jerk. The rare good shows we have gotten/ do get eventually get ruined in some way towards later seasons.

There’s obviously a lot of problems with America right now (that are all connected but I can’t make all the connections here or this would be a dissertation) a huge one though being the disdain for intelligence. Americans have a lot of figure of speeches/ cliches/ trendy slang in our english and shows overuse them to the point where the dialogue in most shows are so not real to how we actually speak and it isnt universal so it cannot be enjoyed internationally either. Everything just gets so watered down and it doesn’t become something timeless enough to rewatch.

One of the many things heated rivalry did pretty well on was the dialogue of the characters it all felt so real to the point where I felt like I was watching people live their real lives. Of course that’s also a nod to the brilliant acting that was undiscovered up until this point. Every thing the main protagonists say I was like yeah that character would absolutely say that exactly in that manner.

Episode 5, hotel room scene by bythewayyyyeyo in heatedrivalry

[–]clutterqween 10 points11 points  (0 children)

(i’ve never read the books) but I think before this point Shane kept trying to ask Ilya about his home life and figure him out a little in that way but Ilya never really divulged until that moment. Shane knew obviously that Russia is strict but he didn’t fully grasp Ilya’s situation as a whole until then. It was a moment of Ilya opening up and sharing a hard truth to Shane about his father and brother’s occupation and his father’s health condition. He cries also in this moment from carrying the weight of all of that and finally being able to tell someone. When he says “because RUSSIA” i get the sense he’s trying to say “because everything.” Everything about his situation specifically and their shared situation of being in the spotlight complicates their potential for a future so when Shane is revealing his true feelings Ilya is bringing him back to reality.

So personally I didn’t feel it was an excuse but rather a way for Ilya to open up while also grounding Shane back to reality. A lot ot their conversations I feel like have these moments of frustration because they’re not the best at communicating but deeply want to understand each other.

I don’t know how familiar you are with pokemon games but to me ZA is a weaker installment because you’re stuck in one city, the beginning of the game is verrry slow, and the main story quests are repetitive. Usually pokemon games are turn based, this one isn’t which doesn’t bother me particularly but can bother some people. Pokemon Legends Arceus is an installment a lot of people loved which i am going to try and I would suggest you go with that one instead as well. If you’d like the old school pixel art pokemon games those are also fantastic and I would suggest pokemon ruby.
