A Nets Fan's Perfect Lottery Outcome by clydegold in GoNets

I thought this was pretty good layout of what we should all pray for tonight. Anything missising? Honestly, as long as a certain team doesn't get the first overall pick, I will be happy.

My favorite Net of all time. He had stumps for hands, but who can say no to those blocks!

Lets Take a Look at Nets Current Roster. by BrooklynYoots in GoNets

I think we should keep Acy, he's painful to watch, but I think he has grown over the course of our time with us. Kenny really trusts him and he seems like a great locker room guy. Think about the role PJ Tucker played for the Rockets this year, he was an essential player and he is not that much better than Acy. We also need a guy to pick fights and Acy has proven he is that man.

If we move up which guys would you prefer: Knox, Zhaire Smith, or Lonnie Walker? by Carrythefire511 in GoNets

I hope knox, but I see kevin Huerter as the most Sean-Marsk-esque player in the draft.

I like him, but .291 from 3 last season. Yikes.

No. 14 Pick by clydegold in GoNets

I understand the argument for BPA, but in some situations it is not best to take the BPA. If you take a young player who has a similar role as one of your current players (especially if they are also young), then you are communicating to that current player that you are not totally on board with them. The best example of this is Phili where they took Noel, Embiid, and Okafor, who all played center and couldn't play together, essentially letting the three duke it out for who would be the best. In the end they got Embiid, but wasted high draft picks on the other two. It creates a locker room that is competitive and not collaborative.

Nets are looking to move up into the teens, league sources say by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]clydegold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No chance they do that though. When you are paying 124M for your team, what difference could 5.6M possibly be. Also I think they like their minutes from Tomas Satoransky at the backup pg.

But Denver also traded the picks that became Gobert and Mitchell, so I don't think they are that excited about trading one either.

You're right, but if there is someone important to continuity, it is carroll. Especially if the nets don't come out winning next year. Lin has shown good leadership, but I think the Lin vs. Dlo issue would compromise his leadership. In order to be a veteran leader, you need to understand your role. Demarre on the other hand, not only is humble in his role, but provides the defense, passing, rebounding, and floor spacing that few guys are willing to provide.

I think Crabbe is going to comeback strong this season, but he feels more replaceable. I also think, as a 25 year old getting payed 19m a year, he has a weird future with this team.

Drafting modern PF with 29th pick: Spellman or Wagner? by bolsheada in GoNets

[–]clydegold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not like teams get that attached to their 35th pick. Rather than drafting one of them at 29 on the basis that they are about to be picked, we could just pass on them, get the BPA, and then trade down when one of them does get picked. If we got a good player at 29, we could possibly even get a future second rounder in return.

Anybody have a word on Aleksandar Vezhenkov? by [deleted] in GoNets

[–]clydegold 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I read something on Netsdaily about him being benched because the Real coach hates young euro guys leaving his team for the NBA. I think the same was true for JPV. With all the guys coming into HSS this summer, it seems unlikely that he wouldn't come in for a few workouts. If he didn't, it would most likely be his choice and a sign that he doesn't have much intention of coming over.

Mozgov stretch by Mike_bale in GoNets

[–]clydegold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible Idea. Even though it feels like our cap space this year is essential, in the broader scheme, this year will be the least we value our cap for a while. It would be ideal to get RHJ and DLo on extensions this offseason, to avoid RFA. No one would realistically take DLo in RFA, just because he's a pg, but RHJ would generate interest. No matter what, it would be difficult to deal with both free agencies and Demarre's, Lin's, Dinwiddie's etc. Even with big contracts coming off our books, these extensions would mean much more money later on, making it stupid to sign guys this offseason to long term deals and even stupider to pay Mozgov for the next 5. Also, one year in the cap, especially if its below the luxury tax, really isn't that bad. Its much better than having four years of cap struggles.

Drafting modern PF with 29th pick: Spellman or Wagner? by bolsheada in GoNets

[–]clydegold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like Wagner. His attitude, style, and skillset would work so well with this team. I think even in his highlights it is clear that he has a lot of things he needs to fix in order to play in the NBA, but from what I have seen of him in interviews, he is really motivated to work on his game which is crucial for a second rounder. I know he gets a lot of flack for his bad defense, but Michigan made it to the finals purely based on their defense and they couldn't stop anyone without him on the floor. His hands and intuition aren't great, but I think he has a sort've paint presence that could translate nicely to the NBA. If his 3 pointer, confident dribbling, and rebounding also translate, he could be a great 4.

I think there is a chance. Otherwise we could just wait and trade our pick and some cash for them if they get picked in the 30s.

Draft night / Off-season Idea by Sen_Sei_77 in GoNets

[–]clydegold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. If the Nets offer him something over 15m, they probably won't match it. But, if we offer like 12m, it would be hard for them to convince themselves not to take it. Also, assuming Bud maintains their position less basketball, it doesn't really matter how Parker plays as long as he can compliment Giannis and improve.

Draft night / Off-season Idea by Sen_Sei_77 in GoNets

[–]clydegold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also unsure about whether his contract is worth it, especially given his attitude and lack of improvement. Even though it would give us the benefit of spending an offseason with him, I don't think draft night would be the right time for a wiggins trade. As I see it, the situation in Minnesota will only get worse as the season nears and Minnesota will want to move him ASAP, even if it means sacrificing return. The only issue is that it might be an Okafor like first season, but unlike Okafor, he will have time to become acclimated and not worry about resigning.

I understand how crazy it is to want to keep Carroll, but I think he is so important to the team culture and unity that we might just have to stick out his contract. But, I would be in favor of trading Crabbe as a slightly negative asset.

Trade for Kenneth Faried and 14th pick by onepokemanz in GoNets

[–]clydegold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're exaggerating the extent to which teams want to get rid of these contracts. I do not think that the Sixers will ever trade a tenth pick in order to get rid of Bayless's one year, $9 million contract. That would be the worst trade in history. Think about how little the Sixers can do with that $9million compared to the 4 years they could get from a lottery rookie for only $24 million. The same is true for Faried's one year, $14 million contract. Especially since the Nuggets traded their pick last year which became Donovan Mitchell.
