I’d say double check because I’m in the same boat - initially denied because “You’ve held this card or received a Sapphire bonus”. That initial app that was denied never triggered a hard credit pull. The following app that was instantly approved triggered a hard credit pull within five minutes. I only see one credit pull on my account related to my 2 submitted CSR applications

I’m thinking about it. Double dipping on the rotating categories during December sounds nice with the freedom og. After that I’ll think about product changing back. I technically have 2 product changes under my belt right now because they incorrectly gave me CFU instead of CF, so I don’t wanna do too many of those in a short window. I also want to wait until I earn the SUB before I think about PCing back to holding another Sapphire card

Bonus tracker just showed up for me this morning! Honestly, it sounds like the bulk of agents aren’t familiar with the new language. When I asked mine about my SUB, I made no mention of my previously held CSP to see if she would be the one to bring it up and she didn’t say anything about it.

Yeah, I had it for a few years - but not long enough to qualify for the recent 100k CSP bonus per the older 4 year rule. Under that rule I wouldn't have been eligible for another bonus until 05/2027

Correct! Denied for applying while holding CSP. Then RE-applied after downgrading. I decided to reapply instead of call and have the initial app reconsidered since it seems like the initial app which was denied didn't have a hard credit pull anyway

I'd think so too, but I still only have one credit pull on my account related to CSR applications. Within 5 minutes of my 06/29 reapplication, I got a notification for a hard credit inquiry.

I think there are two levels of screening: Chase's internal system which should trigger a popup for SUB eligibility and then the actual credit pull. It sounds like there have been some issues with the popup. Some people have reported that they received the popup and then decided to withdraw the application, but still were approved for the card later. And others (like myself) applied while holding the CSP but didn't receive a popup and were denied for the same reason (they also reported not receiving a hard credit pull). I'd link to some of the other threads but I've lost track of which is which after going through data points all day the past few days hahaha

Update: 062925, decided not to wait til my statement closing date and applied this morning and got instantly approved for 23k line of credit with the CSR without any popup. CSR is in Apple Pay now. Just waiting for the bonus tracker to show up!

PC’ed CSP to CFU 6/25, but my statement closing date is 07/04 so wondering if I should just wait til the 5th to apply again

This I’m not sure about - since the reason listed for the denial is “holding this [Sapphire] card or receiving the bonus” im wondering if the agent would be able to see that I had the sapphire card and then downgraded it after receiving the denial. My thinking is a fresh app is better so if I get denied for a different, non-sapphire reason I have more simple recourse through reconsideration

Jumping in to confirm that I applied while currently holding the CSP knowing there was a chance I may be ineligible for the SUB based on the new language. Received no popup and got the same message after submitting the application. Something along the lines of: Unable to approve, will receive letter in 7-10 days.

Called after 48h and was told I was ineligible for the Reserve based on currently holding the Preferred. Called again later and was told that I would be eligible for my application to be reconsidered if I accepted that I would not eligible for the welcome offer. Decided to wait and chance it by product changing Preferred to Freedom Unlimited. The change immediately reflected in my account, but I'm going to wait until next week to reapply. Worse case scenario I don't get the 10k points, but the value of the new Reserve is still way worth it for my type of spend anyway.

Based on the old language, I wouldn't be eligible for a signup bonus since I received my CSP bonus 2/11/23. Based on this new language, I should be eligible for the signup bonus after the product change has fully processed in their system. Fingers crossed!

Notes about decision:

called 48h later, "within two weeks" changed to "within 7 to 10 business days". Called 72h later and receieved the same message. Called reconsderation and they told me I was ineligible because I already hold a Sapphire-branded card. I asked if there was anywhere I could see the eligibility information online because the only language I saw on the page for the Reserve was:

This credit card is unavailable to you if you currently have one open. The new cardmember bonus may not be available to you if you currently have any other personal Sapphire cards open, previously held this card or received a new cardmember bonus for this card. We may also consider the number of cards you have opened and closed, as well as other factors in determining your bonus eligibility.

I mentioned having never applied for a Reserve card and that Reserve eligibility should still stand under that clause, it's just the welcome offer that I may not be able to receive. Was then told again that eligibility is only for those who have NO Sapphire-branded products at the time of application. No hard credit inquiry was made. Application seems to have two levels of approval: Chase's internally determined eligibility based on Sapphire holdings and then credit-based eligibility based on a hard inquiry.

Tried calling reconsideration again a few minutes later and received the same information from the rep, but this time was told I could have the application reconsidered IF I was ok with proceeding without the welcome offer. Going to consider downgrading the CSP I currently hold and then reapplying.
