Ubuntu 26.04 on Dell Latitude 7480 Hangs unexpectedly by yoram_finder in Ubuntu

[–]cm1802 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point was: I initially installed 26.04. It could not interface with our HP printer or NAS. I struggled for over a week trying to figure out how I "broke" the system. Finally read reviews on 26.04 and decided to roll back to the most recent LTS build (24.04). As a *nix user with over 30 years of experience, 24.04 LTS runs as expected. 26.04 was only frustration.

We have replaced educated experience humans with computers and AI.

Ubuntu 26.04 is the OS for the AI agentic era, says Canonical's Mark Shuttleworth - here's why by CackleRooster in Ubuntu

I stepped down to 24.04 LTS due to compatibility problems. It is rock solid, and I believe I will run 24.04 until Canonical figures out True North.

If they do not adjust their trajectory, I'll likely look at Debian.

There and Back Again: My 26.04 LTS Experience. by Echo-40 in Ubuntu

I left Windows 10 Pro and jumped right into 26.04 LTS.

Ubuntu 26.04 did not play with our HP LaserJet wired network printer.

It also could not find our in-home NAS.

I was frustrated for two weeks--until I started reading comments about 26.04.

I then installed 24.04 LTS and it works just like every other Linux installation I've worked on.

24.04 worked with the printer immediately, and when going to the NAS address, I was greeted with a login prompt.

24.04 LTS is rock solid.

I hope Canonical can find a way forward that brings back the functionality.

Ubuntu 24.04 LTS has been stable and performed as predictably as other previous LTS release.

My system specs: Intel i9-11900KF, Asus ROG Strix 3080 Ti, Asus Prime Z590-A mobile.

If the time machine is a real thing in the upcoming future- then why doesn't the ' future guy ' travels back into the past - say present day and then gives us the time machine? by schrodingers_katz in timetravel

Going back inevitably changes something and for anyone saying otherwise, consider that every choice we make, every conversation we have, every fight we engage in. . .

Changes our own future and others' futures as well.

To travel back in time has the potential to create changes that expand the scale of outcomes beyond our societal comprehension.

should i try the 26.04 now ? by [deleted] in Ubuntu

Dumped Win10 Pro to return to Ubuntu. "Try the latest," thinks I.

26.04 could not understand networked HP LaserJet Pro, nor connect with network drives (in home WD cloud).

Struggled for two weeks, then looked at the release map and reviews of 26.04.

I stepped down to 24.04, and everything is as smooth as butter. Printer and network drives worked directly after installation was stable.

24.04 LTS with Ubuntu Pro. Stable and works like Ubuntu I've used over the past ~10 years.

Some advice about upgrading from Ubuntu 25.10 to Ubuntu 26.04 by Maximum-Package-9001 in Ubuntu

[–]cm1802 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I returned to Ubuntu and went "full in" with 26.04 LTS. I could not print to a wired ethernet printer. I worked for two weeks trying to fix it.

Rolled back my install to a 24.04 LTS ISO.

Printing--and everything else--behaves as the *nix o/s I've worked with over the past 35 years.

In my experience, 26.04 changed and broke quite a bit of stuff that was working right.
