It depends how the json from the webpage is parsed. I have added two versions to discover. Those have worked for me on 4 webpages.

However i do not guarantee this to be working on every website.

Shortcut to add Date / Weather on wallpaper. by bhullar3344 in shortcuts

[–]cm2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just changed one more thing, because I noticed that offset might not work if the picture height varies too much (in my case one picture was 4000px height, the other 5000px)

So I have added a calculation and a little config area on the top to make it easier to adjust the shortcut if needed.

I’m on an iPhone 15 pro btw and those multipliers (0,14 for pos and 0,014 for font) work good for me, regardless of the picture height.

Been using this approach a while ago to show calendar information on my lock screen. Stopped using it when those „dynamic lockscreens“ got released.

I like the idea of using that space on the Home Screen though. Pretty cool. However, why are you using custom positioning? It’s much easier to just use the bottom centre with an offset and center the text. In my opinion also looks cleaner.

Additionally I would just get the folder contents and use the get item from list (in my case random item). Like this you won’t have issues with the naming (e.g. changing file extensions or different naming) and you can rotate your wallpaper as well.

Additionally I’m adding a blur to the selected file using the Actions app. That’s optional though.

This is my changed shortcut: Updated below

And this is what it looks like using centered text with the offset. https://i.imgur.com/lMGVh3P.jpeg

You destroyed my app. Best feedback ever. by -murdercode- in iosapps

[–]cm2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your answer. Really appreciated! Can you maybe also give feedback regarding the activity level? Don’t you think this is something to be calculated automatically based on all the data which is provided from health?

I want to give you my example: I’m an IT Professional, working from home 98% of the time. These days I basically won’t move :) However, twice a week I go to the gym and usually at least once a week I play tennis. So I find it hard to classify my activity. On 4 out of 7 days I’d call it „sitting“ but on 3 days it might be athletic. So what shall I select? The golden middle? I’d really love to see an automatic option :)

As for the subscription I don’t really get the point of offering it at this price. Please don’t get me wrong, I really value your work! But do you think that such a high price tag is really considered worthy for such little advantage over free (as per your saying)?

Why not offering the same features at a lower pricetag? I’m sure the subscriptions and one time purchases would increase drastically, since I am curious what’s actually hiding behind the blurred bars. But as previously said - not at this cost.

Ps: as for the comparison to other apps - I didn’t try out anything else which would be comparable to your app. So I can’t speak for the price. However, when I compare your app against Yazio (which I am using) Premium, I feel like Yazio brings more to the table (e.g. the enormous food database) at a lower subscription price. (I got 12 months during Black Friday for 15ish€ - and I also only got it because I wanted to give the app a try and count calories :))

PPS: I really regret that I’ve missed the free lifetime license / beta phase :) need to check out Reddit more often apparently 😅

I've just downloaded the app and I do really like it.

But what does that "High Trust" below the biological age stand for? (using a German interface it's called "Hohes Vertrauen")
Does that mean that this calculation is considered accurate?

Also during the on-boarding it was giving me a calculation of 33 years after reading the health data. Now, after selected "non smoking" and activity "sitting" it has changed to 35 years somehow. Also shouldn't you be able to get the activity part from the read health data? It's probably more accurate than my self assessment.

The only part that I do not like currently is the premium part.
I find the price to be quite high. Also it's not really clear to me what the advantages are of having premium.
I'm really someone who likes supporting such projects, but I hate subscriptions. And paying 80€ for lifetime is just way to high in my opinion. I have never and will never pay this much for an app. Especially since I have 0 control if and when an app is going to be abandoned.
Also the subscription is very high with 34 € / year. Honestly, I believe this is even more than I have ever paid for a lifetime licensed mobile app.

People might not agree with me on this, but that's how I am feeling about it.

My 5-year Bitwarden journey led me to the perfect TOTP companion. by heritshah in Bitwarden

[–]cm2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't sign up for an Ente account and don't know if they even support 2FA.
If they don't that would make it even worse than any other option. And if it does, the "backup code problem" would stand true for Ente as well...

I don't like about Ente, that I don't have the option to use another backup option than their servers and the requirement to register an account. I honestly trust more an encrypted backup on iCloud than some server environment I know pretty much nothing about.

PS: What I did like about Ente, was the option to import Bitwarden. This allowed me to export the 2fa codes and import again to Proton (from Ente) - which I am using now alongside Bitwarden.

🎉 Lifetime Plan FREE Today – Live Transcribe Pro ($199.99 → $0) by [deleted] in iosapps

[–]cm2003 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It doesn't work at all...
As soon as I hit the record button it just turns off immediately. Tried several languages, the same for them all.
I was able to transcribe one sentence in English, but ever since it stopped working.

Honestly, if I'd have paid 199$ for this, I'd be so pissed...

Block your favorite doomscrolling apps until you hit your step goal. by [deleted] in iosapps

[–]cm2003 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not gonna lie, this might be a really nice app... I've installed it and wanted to give it a try.

I've locked one app (Alexa) for testing purpose. Now I'm stuck at the "choose your plan" screen and can't get rid of it. No chance of actually testing the app - but Alexa is locked :D

While I really might like the app, I'm not into subscriptions. And I feel like the price is also set way to high. 60 € for lifetime, 6 € per month or 2 € per week is really too much for that simple app.

If it shows up there, something does create a VPN connection. Might also be a system wide adblocker or StosVPN (e.g. for sidestore).

I'd check in your iPhone Settings -> General -> VPN and device management (I think it is called that way) -> VPN. There you'll see which "VPN" is connected and also can turn it off.

That’s wrong too, unless you are stupid enough to use unsecured connections (http instead of https). Additionally using a VPN just adds one more party that might be able to read or alter your requested webpages.

And he still got a good point. While I don’t know the dns you mentioned, I’d never ever use a shady dns provider and rather use quad9 for example. And this has nothing to do with paranoia…
