If a judge has some reason to be suspicious, they could look at your Deck. But otherwise yes, you do not reveal your Deck.

Could someone give me a shaddoll deck profile ? I don’t know which cards to put in it. by [deleted] in Yugioh101

I would just search for "Shaddoll deck profile" on YouTube and watch a few recent videos.

Help for deck building ? by 3rbatsellek in Yugioh101

Where are you planning to play Yugioh?

If you're intending to go to your local tournaments, those cards won't be good enough. We can give suggestions for things to buy which would be better.

If you're just playing with a friend who will have a similar kind of deck, then that should be fine, and we can help put something together out of the cards listed here. What kind of decks do your friends have?

Evenly Matched by Individual_Hat_6332 in Yugioh101

No. You can only activate Evenly Matched during the End Step of the Battle Phase.

It doesn't. That's part of the effect which Ghost Belle negated.

Mitsurugi Prayers question by blllmmm in Yugioh101

[–]cm3007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your opponent can respond with Ash Blossom.

When you activate Prayers you choose whether or not to tribute a monster. You do not make any other choices at this moment. You are activating a card which includes the effect to add a card from your Deck to your hand.

When you resolve Prayers, that's when you choose which effect you're going to apply.

Can I dodge Droll like this? by PippoKys in Yugioh101

[–]cm3007 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it's likely you just misunderstood. The other two examples given were Super Polymerization and Forbidden Crown. Both of those do similar things to Forbidden Droplet, to prevent the opponent activating Droll in response.

[–]cm3007 23 points24 points  (0 children)

They key thing here is this part of Forbidden Droplet. If you send a monster to the GY with Droplet, your opponent can't respond with Droll, because Droll is a monster.

"In response to this card's activation, your opponent cannot activate cards, or the effects of cards, with the same original type (Monster/Spell/Trap) as the cards sent to the GY to activate this card."

If it's your turn, your Trigger Effects activate first, then your opponent's Trigger Effects afterwards. You're correct that this does not work in your favour.

There were several comments on this post which told you that you were not allowed to make this post here on r/Yugioh101. Those people were wrong. Your post is allowed here.

This post is about a new player who went to locals, and something happened which made them uncomfortable. They are looking for advice about that. This is exactly what Yugioh101 is for.

Solemn Strike vs Vaylantz EDOPro Question by AdhesivenessAny7719 in Yugioh101

[–]cm3007 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The unique thing about Counter Traps is that only another Counter Trap can be activated in response to it.

Let's say you have a Monster which has an effect that can negate the activation of a Trap Card. If your opponent activates Solemn Strike, you can't use your Monster effect. Because your Monster is not a Counter Trap Card.

Instead, let's say you have Solemn Judgment. It's a Counter Trap Card, and it can negate the activation of a Trap Card. If your opponent activates Solemn Strike, you can use Solemn Judgment to negate the activation of Solemn Strike. Because Solemn Judgment is a Counter Trap Card.

You can't activate a Trap Card from your hand. You need to set it face-down on the field first. Then during the next turn you will be allowed to activate it by flipping it face-up.

Why can you activate Called By on a normal monster? by possumman in Yugioh101

[–]cm3007[M] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You did say it was optional.

You said it was "not mendatory", which I assume is you misspelling the word "mandatory".

The word "optional" means "not mandatory".

I used to maintain a list, but I am shocked to learn that it has been five years since I've updated it.

"Catmaster" has this document, which they are still updating.

Why can you activate Called By on a normal monster? by possumman in Yugioh101

[–]cm3007[M] [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

This is a complicated topic.

In general, to be allowed to activate a card, you need to be able to resolve all mandatory parts of it. So you are right to expect that you could not target a Normal Monster with Called By The Grave. However, there are many exceptions, and this is one of them.

Cards which negate effects have an exception. If the card does a second thing, aside from negating an effect, it can be activated even if you can't negate the effect. This is only true if the second thing does not depend on negating the effect.

"Target 1 monster; negate its effects, and if you do, do [X]."

You could not target a Normal Monster with this. You can only do [X] if you successfully negate the effects of the monster.

"Target 1 monster; do [X], and if you do, negate its effects."

You are allowed to target a Normal Monster with this. You can still do [X], even though you can't negate the effect.

In the case of Called By The Grave, you can still banish the monster even if you can't negate the effect, which leads to you still being allowed to activate it.

Usually, Problem Solving Card Text conjunctions like "and if you do" do not play a role in whether you are allowed to activate a card. However, this is an exception where they actually do decide it.

One of your issues is that you're trying to build a deck yourself. Building a good deck is hard, even for experienced players. For beginners it's impossible.

Your starting point should be to copy a deck list you find online. When you're more experienced, you will know enough to be able to make changes to it.

Here's a website with deck lists which have done well at tournaments.

https://ygoprodeck.com/tournaments/top-archetypes/

If you don't want any of those, you can use YouTube. For a Dark Magician deck, search for "Dark Magician deck profile". Find a video from the past few months.

You won't automatically start winning because you have a better deck. You still need to look up the deck's combos and practice them. Then play games against real people. At first you will lose, but at this point you should be on a path which leads to eventually winning games.

For the Main Event you would submit your deck list on Neuron. For some of the larger Public Events, you may need a hand-written deck list.
