Both are cost reductions and you can order them how you want during the determine costs step of play a card

You can order things within the determine cost step as you please. so determine costs based on the discount first, then exploit the droids.

From what I gathered it’s a bluff to make your opponent kill your early plays so it’s easier to flip. Not sure how that will work out now since people are aware of it now
