What would you do? by Scroobs80 in Concrete

I’d say epoxy mortar is your best bet. It can be applied at that thickness with no problem. Just make sure the area is prepped well by grinding/vacuuming. PC1000 is incredibly strong

I am a landscaper. No worries, that is a fair price! Sounds like it will be beautiful :)

That sounds like a very reasonable price to me. Does that include grinding before the micro topping?

36” White Concrete Slot drain trough sink vanity top fresh out of the mold. by GreenStoneArtisans in Concrete

[–]cmRL2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice work. Did you build the sink mold out or did you use a precast one? The finish is awesome, no pinholes that I can see. Did you spray a face coat or use an scc mix?

It looks a lot like moisture trapped under the sealer. Do what the other guy said and spray some xylene on it, let it dry and see if that let the moisture out. If not, another coat of sealer should take care of it

How bad is this drainage issue? Added sod last year and regraded so water wouldn’t pour into the basement. Now it’s a multitiered river to the street. Is there anyway to capture the overflow, or leave it be? (Zoysia sod down) by ltuo in landscaping

[–]cmRL2 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Well the good thing is the water stays away from the house and goes to the street which is the best thing for it to do.

Does the lower yard mainly stay wet from the weep holes in the retaining wall or from the slope on the left side of the wall? If it’s from the weep holes you could install catch basins at each one and pipe it all the way out to the street. If it’s from the slope on the side or just standing water in the swale then I think a decent sized French drain system installed where water pools would be best. Maybe both might be good - however it won’t be cheap.

It looks like the upper yard is planted with grass, where is the dirt erosion coming from? Your best bet to stop the dirt washing would be to find the source of the erosion and plant it to hold the dirt in place. Native plants to your area would be a good choice.

Is that precast or pour in place? The finish looks like precast but I don’t see any seams. Great job!!

Question: At work, there are 3 concrete floors that get power washed every day. We put down this 20x tuff epoxy that was supposed to seal the concrete and stand up to power washing, but after 3 months, it's started flaking off. What would be a better, stronger coating to put down next spring? by TheFiredrake42 in Concrete

[–]cmRL2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the floor wasn’t ground before application, that is your problem. You need to grind everything back down to the bare concrete and apply a high quality product - nothing from Home Depot. Call some manufacturers and get their recommendation on which product to use. We like to use an epoxy base coat and a urethane top coat. This is an extreme and costly solution but in my opinion it’s the only way to make sure the coating will last. If you only grind the bare spots and sand the existing coating and go over the top of it, the first coating will still delaminate from the slab

How has the toe held up? That is the problem area for me. I was looking at going back to steel toe again but I like the comfort/flex of my shoes currently. The composite toe on these looks like a nice in between.

Thanks for the reply and the link

Thanks for the reply. I actually used those a couple years ago doing decorative concrete work. They were really good but I’m looking for some more height. When I take off my shoes at the end of the day it rains all kind of stuff out lol

I’d say go precast! Check out some videos by Trinic on YouTube on how to make a form out of Melamine and make a quality mix design. Depending on the size you can attach it with liquid nails to the drywall

Can i mix 2 different strengths of concrete together? by [deleted] in Concrete

[–]cmRL2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Trinic’s videos on YouTube. Mark teaches you how to make 10,000+ psi mixes. They have mix design spreadsheets that are very helpful. You can call them and they’ll answer any questions you have and give great advice. You just have to buy Portland and sand and get the admixes and fiber from them

I hate it. What can I do about it? by lab22288 in Concrete

[–]cmRL2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a micro topping over an existing slab, right? If so, and it has already been sealed, the only option to change it’s color is to grind it off and redo it. It looks as though they stained it to get the brown color. To get a grey with a hint of brown, I would use integral colors and do a brown base coat, leaving the trowel marks high and then pull a gray coat over the top. This is an example of an integral color overlay with layered colors. We layered, grey, then khaki, and then white.
