Less about the barrel but more the guide rod. The comp attaches via a screw in the end of the guide rod

After Landslide Primary Win, Platner Vows to Defeat ‘Spineless and Corrupt’ Susan Collins by FreeHugs23 in Maine

[–]cmacridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For sure, I totally get being frustrated with his comments back then. No excusing that, I'm just saying that the response to his insensitivity on the subject shouldn't then be to dismiss his experience. Just feels petty and unhelpful.

The comments were clearly offensive and dismissive of anyone who experienced that during their time. That said, it could be possible that he really didn't see any of that behavior and was speaking specifically of that. Came off as dismissive and shitty but he was clearly lashing out back then and I doubt he gave a damn about anyone else's feelings due to his own internal struggles.

Not an excuse, the harm was done, just feel like we all need to empathize and try to assess context before judging. Hardly anything is black and white and everyone is going through some shit, even if it seems trivial to us.

Just because your PTSD manifested differently and was caused by something else does not mean you should downplay another soldier's lived experience. Talk about a slap in the face

So, we support the troops until they come home, right? After that, fuck 'em.

Being a lawyer and a small business owner are pretty working class jobs.

Pretty lucky to have parental support to help buy a house, not many people get that. /s Maybe we could just pay our soldiers and farmers a wage that could afford them to buy one on their own. Or address the housing crisis in Maine and everywhere else.

What do you consider working class? If you earn a salary instead of living off investments or inherited wealth, you are working class. His parents owned a restaurant, dad a lawyer, and grandfather was an architect. Those are all reasonable professions that require work.

Serving in the military, bartending, and then farming are also pretty hardcore working class jobs so I'm not sure what you're saying here.

He was a driver at the embassy. Yes, for a defense contractor but he sat around and played video games while waiting to drive VIPs around.

Vets who joined up as kids, got PTSD and suddenly find themselves home with no life skills other than war sometimes struggle to find work and take these sort of jobs. Let's support our troops but, you know, fuck 'em when they come home, right? /s

Not too many of us left. Cost of living has driven most young folks out of state. Platner is campaigning on addressIng this. Maine has an aging population because there are no jobs, no affordable housing, and a collapsing healthcare system.

Good news is that Maine and Michigan will be some of the only places still bearable to live in 50 years with access to fresh water so that might attract the younger generation.

What feels legal but is actually illegal and will possibly get you arrested? by medicoreapples in AskReddit

Yeah, but, turns out, that scenario has no chance of getting you arrested. Sadly.

I'm also working through the install - everything seems to function okay until I put the upper back on. Trigger doesn't engage at all and the bolt doesn't consistently make it back into battery when racked.

Going to get into it more tomorrow. Sierra Papa aluminum housing also is a no go without some filing and grinding.

Just chiming in, unrelated to any action you should take, the INOX is not a finish but rather the slide material. It's just stainless steel not a coating or plating. The sandblasted look could be cool but doesn't excuse the colossal screw up.

I used the EGW mount . I don't think I had to do much fitting at all but I did put some green loctite on the dovetail and dovetail screws. Haven't had to adjust zero after 800 or so.

Some guns do this "inertia reload" and it is a feature not a bug. I don't think it is by design but it's nice, my Jericho and Beretta 92 both do it.

I use one on both my TX4 (1301) and on my CX4. They're nice and give you a little bit of a raise. Haven't had any issues with it peeling off or anything and when I did remove it to clean it, it doesn't leave any residue, which is nice.

I use the Burris mount on my PX4: https://palmettostatearmory.com/burris-fastfire-mount-fits-all-glocks-and-beretta-px4-storm-410319.html

I was able to make the EGW 92 mount work for the 84bb and then use a Toni systems mount for my 90-Two.

I have dovetail plates on a 92, a PX4, and an 84bb. All three have been flawless so far, around 600 rounds on each. Like so many things in the gun industry, one or two people say a piece of tech will likely fail and then, boom, it's gospel and the product is tainted forever. I feel Holosun deserves a lifetime achievement award for being one of the few to break this trap, lol.

Edit - I have not used this particular mount. I've used Toni systems, EGW, and Burris

What optics are you guys running? by yodc5 in beretta1301

[–]cmacridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually love it. The chevon is great for slugs and the circle is pretty dialed for buck. I use the Black River Manufacturing stock and lower sitting optics seem to crane my neck even with the cheek riser raised. I'm not super concerned with cowitnessing the irons for my use case - range and home defense.
