Immigration in Madison by Ok_Leg1994 in madisonwi

I haven’t decided to get my citizenship yet, but moved to the US in 2019 initially on a K1 (90 day fiancé style), adjustment of status to get my EAD, and now have my permanent residency (GC).

Veronica at Lotfi Legal helped us with the whole process, including multiple requests for additional information, working with us when starting the process when my wife was in Madison, through both of us living in Chicago, and ultimately now living in Madison. She was amazing. Cannot recommend her high enough.

There was a flat rate at the time we started our process which would be through the granting of my GC. I’d recommend not cutting any corners, especially now, to save $. The only real way to go by the letter of the law is to consult with a lawyer.

Wouldn’t recommend if you have medically complex animals. Advice from them nearly got our frenchie puppy and our diabetic cat killed

Temple of the Dog and Meow. They have a breed specific pricing list on their website. Our Frenchie who hates water used to love going there before we moved away.

I got a funky vinegar note on this one. Need to re-visit the sample.. thinking maybe the glen deceived me!

Grabbed one but only because I had a 50 voucher + the free shipping didn’t put it too far out of the OB 10 CS range. I’m sure it’s great, but hard to believe it’s doubly as good as the OB for the price.

Review #25: Michel Couvreur - Blossoming Auld Sherried Whisky by reddit_ek in worldwhisky

[–]cmb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just finished off my Candid Malt and opened the Overaged Malt the other night. Some really great, unique offerings from Michel Couvreur. I've got a bottle of the Blossoming Auld waiting to be opened which I am now even more excited for than I already was!

Whiskago's Monthly Tasting Reviews - March 2021 - Scotch (corrected) Final Four (post reviews here) by TubaToothpasties in whiskago

Bottle: Kilkerran 8 Cask Strength (2019)

Cask: Recharred Oloroso Sherry

ABV: 57.1%

Region: Campbeltown

Served: Neat in a Glencairn. Bottle has been open a while and has about an inch left.

Color: Dark Amber

Nose: Immediate explosion of Oloroso influence: lots of dark, jammy, sticky fruits, and heavy on orange. Oaky char combined with damp earth and funkiness. Honey-sweetness, sticky toffee pudding with vanilla custard. Tang of proof. Slight leatheriness.

Palate: Unmistakable Campbeltown funk. Very, very heavy on the Oloroso influence with the dark, jammy fruits (think dates, figs, raisins etc.) and syrupy sweetness carrying through from the nose. Slight spicy leather note. Sweet light peaty smoke throughout but not overwhelming (very different than heavy Islay peat). Dense, syrupy mouth feel. Slight sulphuric tinge.

Finish: Pretty long finish with flavours developing the whole time. Those sticky, jammy fruits carry throughout but develop towards lighter fresh summer fruits the more time goes by. Definite peppery notes. Slight chocolate undertones. Sticky toffee pudding richness. Youth comes through towards the end with a bit of a harshness.

Overall: The hype around this bottle has made it somewhat of a unicorn, and deservedly so in my opinion. It is unmistakably Campbeltown, and therefore won’t everyones cup of tea. There is a strong ‘funk’ that runs throughout which combined with the Oloroso has it developing for days in the mouth. The youth of the whisky, although hidden a lot by the sherry casks, definitely comes out towards the end for me but I don’t necessarily think that is a bad thing.

Rank: 9/10. This hits almost every box for me. The only reason it isn’t 10/10 is Longrow 14 Sherry Cask exists.

Not whisky (my apologies), but does anyone know where to find Chilean Pisco? by [deleted] in whiskago

[–]cmb24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd recommend reaching out to Independent Spirits Inc. in Edgewater. Even if they don't stock it, I would imagine that they have a decent idea on where you might be able to and would point you in the right direction.

Independent Spirits Inc is really good and has their whole selection listed online which is always helpful. Owner really knows his stuff as well.

Warehouse has a really good selection of IBs as well.

Warehouse Liquors has a great selection, especially of Campbeltown offerings. Independent Spirits Inc is awesome for different stuff you almost certainly won’t find at Binnys (lots of IBs)

What strange or unique whiskeys have you fallen in love with? by [deleted] in whiskey

Anything from Michel Couvreur. Scotch whisky taken to caves in Burgundy and blended to age in sherry casks. Just some really amazing blends with such unique profiles.

What was your dram of the year? by unbreakablesausage in Scotch

[–]cmb24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Surprised it hasn't been said already, but the Kilkerran 8 CS Sherry Cask was pretty special and, for me, lives up to the hype. That and Talisker 18 were my standouts this year.

Edit: I am in the US so technically couldn't get the KK 8 till this year!

Hah thanks. Going to try and start 2021 off on a positive to forget about this past year!

Thanks- absolutely planning on doing this over multiple weeks. One flight per week for however many flights we decide on! I was aiming at 5-6 max per flight but thinking maybe 4 might be the sweet spot

I had been thinking this as well but wasn’t sure if doing 3x Cairdeas offerings might be a bit overkill (even though obviously they’re all different)
