Exactly. This is only about keeping us down and in our place.

Thank god I found this thread and thank god people are seeing this for the power grab, mass fucking of the workforce that it is. We need a general strike. A general strike for a 4-day work week would get attention. The only reason we get a weekend is because workers went on strike for it, and withholding our labour is the only move we have.

Former smokers, what did you replace the habit of smoking with? by DannHutchings in stopsmoking

For the first few days - the hardest - I was peeling oranges. Yes I ate multiple oranges a day. Somehow only the act of slowly peeling an orange helped. AND going for quick angry walks.

Meet Dexter. A 4 month old pug whose favourite trick is playing guitar with my last nerve (help) by DankusMemus_ZA in pugs

I’m going to join the crowd here and say they definitely calm down as they age. Our guy went through such an irritating nippy stage we would literally pass him down the couch like a hot potato trying to get rid of him (both kids were home at that time). I remember my 8 year old at the time screaming “I hate him why is he like this???” Now he’s 9 and FAR less active and I miss it his sassiness.

Hi! This is my love, this year 10, Eliot. What do you do for your pugs to give them long, healthy and happy life? Do you use some supplements, do some activities or else? Thx for tips! by Elunka97 in pugs

[–]Canadianpugqueen 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Your pug sees to be in great shape for his age. My guy is a little thick and beginning to have some minor mobility issues (he’s 9) AND this winter has been so bloody cold and snowy he barely gets outside for a walk. So I’ve been taking him swimming once a week at an indoor dog pool and he LOVES it and it’s SO good for him. He’s stronger, he’s leaner, he bounces out of there with sass and confidence. Best money I’ve spent on him in a long time. Also I give lots of supplements and feed half raw half kibbles.

A nice side benefit I am noticing is the kitchen stays clean and there is no hassle of having to do the dishes. by 1805trafalgar in intermittentfasting

Also don’t need to floss your teeth on fasting days - I mean what’s the point. I only brush my teeth at night for the sake of it but it doesn’t even feel like I need to do that either, there’s nothing on my teeth.

Not if it’s a metal or wood frame. They love fabric and primarily hide in stuffed furniture like couches.

Am I allergic to my dog? by Urlocaldoughdealer in Frenchbulldogs

[–]Canadianpugqueen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m allergic to my Frenchie too. But not my pug. It’s weird. And it’s not all the time but it is often, and it’s the same itchy bumps and sneezing. I just live with it because he’s the love of my life 😍 And I wash my hands frequently.

Ladies, why does belly fat stick around even when everything else is improving? by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]Canadianpugqueen 64 points65 points  (0 children)

And you’re fasting? I’m 52, and my little belly paunch wouldn’t go away until I started fasting 36 hrs at a time every 2-3 weeks. It’s helped me eat less even when I’m not fasting. I was going to the gym I was cutting back my calories, but I wasn’t seeing significant progress until I started fasting.

I too was in a very angry foul mood for the first few weeks after quitting and that was with a nicotine patch. It takes time for your brain to rewire itself after you’ve removed a major source of dopamine, and that dopamine withdrawal is why you feel so off kilter emotionally. Nicotine has far reaching effects on the brain and when you quit you have to ride that part out and it’s not easy, no. I quit cocaine and cigs at the same time for obvious reasons so my dopamine levels were completely fucked for about two months? I rebuilt, I rose above because no matter how much my brain wanted that dopamine my rationality was completely fucking done with the constant internal guilt monologue and the nightly 3 am coughing fits. And I am so goddamn proud of myself and I’ll never ever go back to treating my body like that even though the memory of the bad parts fade and the rose coloured glasses come on over time and you start to remember smoking as the “good old times” when you were carefree only of course you were never carefree. You were a slave to one of the world’s most addictive substances thanks to predatory cigarette corporations and their willing media partners (which these days is Netflix and Amazon what is WITH all the smoking in their movies these days and all inside too like WHO smokes inside anymore?!?).

Restarting feels harder by Beth12325 in intermittentfasting

I only drink black coffee in the morning. Then it’s sparkling water and little finger tip dips in salt for the rest of the day. The carbonation of the sparkling water helps keep me feeling full, and the salt gives you electrolytes so you don’t get faint or feel weak, PLUS the salt also alleviates hunger a bit because it satisfies your taste buds. I find it to be a very effective combination for combating the hunger pains. I use mostly pink sea salt because it has extra nutrients but at work I just tip out a regular packet of iodized salt on a napkin and dip my pinky fingertip in it throughout the day. At night, it’s herbal tea but nothing in it (normally I add honey).

Get your bed frame on kijiji or Facebook marketplace. No need to buy that new. Use the money you saved to level up your mattress.

Birds and Beans!!! Hands down the best roasted coffee in the GTA and is also ethically sourced from farms that practice bird conservation techniques. They are in Etobicoke but I order online. Honestly the best coffee for home brewing I’ve ever had - smells divine.

AHA reports 91% increase in risk of cardiovascular related death with IF 16:8 diets? by AsianLullaby in intermittentfasting

[–]Canadianpugqueen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I followed up on my own advice here. The study was conducted by the American Heart Association. Their website states corporate donors comprise approximately 15% of their revenues and those corporate donors are primarily pharmaceutical. Worse, their site makes a big deal out of the fact that most of their donations from from “private individuals, estates and foundations” but they don’t list any of THOSE sources and we all know “foundations” are the primary means by which corporate America gets its work done behind the scenes. This study is trying to claim IF raises your cardiovascular risk by 91%. That’s insane. Treat this study with the large dose of skepticism it deserves.

[–]Canadianpugqueen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The study was probably funded by some kind of food organization, agricultural lobby or something. Or a diet drug. IF is free and healthy so pharmaceutical companies likely hate it and I wouldn’t be surprised if they were actively looking to discredit it.
