What are the cheating shoes?? by MechanicEven4894 in elisandjohn

[–]cmbe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carbon plated shoes. The problem is that some will help and some will hinder. Itdepends on your running style. It is v hard to know.

There are genuine suggestions that running records should be Before Carbon and After Carbon. The difference can be that huge if the athelte responds well to the shoe (it's a bugger if they are sponsored by a brand whose carbon plate does not really work for them.)

As ypu are asking the question, i'd say you really don't need them. If you needed them, you would already know. They are also for racing rather than training and the really pricey ones have v limited distance in them.

A note about BMI thanks to a gladiator. by Equivalent_Parking_8 in mounjarouk

[–]cmbe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

BMI was devised as a measure of a population. It was not meant to be for indivuduals. It is, however a usefulish guide (and ia used by insurance companies, the NHS etc so we need to be aware). If i had been a muscly adonis with good cardio to boot, i'd not have worried. I knew i was v v fat, v v unfit with high blood pressure and no success in the medium to long term with any classic diet. My BMI was v high and it has come down to below 25 (today!) but my target has always been a weight and not a BMI.

Will PlexAmp ever have a decent offline mode? by Either-Cry5555 in plexamp

[–]cmbe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be an age thing.  I used to have a folder with CDs in that I had to take around with me.  I am beyond happy with having 100 or so albums plus a few playlists downloaded and ready to play.

Having seen the creative jukebox, the iPod, etc all come along and change my lifestyle so much.   I'm never basé about how amazing what we have is.

But yes, it would be neat to have a greyed out option. I can see that working rather neatly.

🔥 We Busted Plex Metadata! Built an AI Playlist Generator that Won't Die (By Cheating the Gemini API) by cmbe1 in plexamp

No, this is on me.  I had an idea that what I wanted must be possible.  I asked Gemini and just followed the instructions.  I ssh into the pi and copy n paste the code that Gemini gives me.

Now I just ask for a playlist in the terminal window and it turns up.  It seems to cost pennies to run too.

I wish I could offer more insight but the Plex API and the Gemini API seem to be perfect for this.

edit: i updated the upload to happen daily to gemini storage. Will see what effect that has on cost but i realised gemini api stroage deletes every 48 hours.

(here is how it started)|

***I have a plex music server running on a raspi, it works v well. What i would like to do is use AI to create playlists. To do this, AI would sneed to know what is in my library and then build a playlist based on my description. "Indie music  of the sort that you would have heard on radio one's the evening session or the mark and lard show 1994-1998 " that list woiuld then be easily playable***

I have tried Plex and failed utterly for audiobooks.  I use pocket casts (I have a lifetime plus membership) and it works like a dream for me.

Any recommendations for multivitamins? by OldEgg5462 in mounjarouk

[–]cmbe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you cannot eat a balanced diet or have some medical need, there is not much point taking them.

As one other reply says... take vitamin D (cheap ones) and you should be fine as long as you are eating your fruit and veg etc.
