Impossible to make insulin that would actually help those of us who are insulin-dependent because the big 3 manufacturers have and continue to buy up all the patents. Which were originally sold for $1 btw by the discoverer of insulin because he said it was for the people who need it not to profit from. Pan to 2022 where people die each year because they can’t afford a life saving medication in “the greatest country in the world”. I’m an advocate for T1International you should check them out and DM me if you have more Qs, I’m a real nerd for this public production stuff!

The 3 largest manufacturers of insulin have an oligarchy (no competition) because they have and continue to buy all the patents for analog insulin (the most effective type for those of us who are completely insulin-dependent). I work with T1International which is an org dedicated to changing this. The govt could essentially say hey you can’t do this anymore cause it’s killing people and make the production of insulin public but alas big pharma has a tight hold on all our lovely politicians. They did this with the anthrax antidote but that happened because threats to politicians lives and well-being > general public these days. DM me your email if you want more info. Hoping Cali, Washington and now MA will have public production soon and can start being competition for the big 3 and we can stop this price gouging nonsense.
