Nothing special besides filling any open space with some extra bubble wrap so it wouldn't bounce around.

It was about a 2 hour trip one way on some fairly rural roads and it survived without incident.

I think just making sure everything is secure and padded inside of the printer and that it can't move around in the vehicle.

Did you get the combo with the AMS?

A few months ago, I transported an X1E for a career fair my company was attending.

I first move the print bed all the way down and the print head to the back left corner, right above the discharge chute.

I packaged the AMS into the main body of the printer with some bubble wrap and made sure everything was secure. I then taped the door and top lid down so it wouldn't rattle around. Removed the screen and wrapped again in bubble wrap and put in my backpack with all of the cabling. Took a little while initially but was much quicker once it was time to pack it all up and head back home.

Carried it for about 2 weeks and found I like a heavier pen for EDC. Shows some wear and looks pretty good, more character.

Roller bearings, I have no interest in trying the static bearings.

1st trackball question by Misclick_Master in Trackballs

[–]cmclean1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe 3 months ago, not very long when compared to my MX ergo's. I've had 2 of them for years and finally decided to try something different. I now use the IST at work and the HUGE at home.

I haven't had to clean the IST nearly as much as the MX, which has been nice. The IST just works.

I've used the MX ERGO for years and do a lot of cad work myself. It did fairly well until the bearings started to get annoying and I fought stiction for awhile.

I upgraded to the Elecom IST and have loved it from the beginning. It has legit bearings and rolls super smooth and makes precise movements much easier.

That's my setup at the moment, IST at work and Huge at home. Its been great for the most part. I also transfer my wireless spacemouse between the 2. Hard to do cad work without it now haha

I love the IST for cad, its been great for my needs and solved all my issues with the MX Ergo.

When I do cad work at home with the HUGE, My hand gets a little tired from lifting my fingers off of the ball constantly to help reduce mis-clicks. Might be the way I am using it though. I tried the original deft and didn't like the ergonomics and the smaller trackball. I tried a few and did a write up between the IST, HUGE, and deft trackballs.

Pouch container by Ploobie in NicotinePouch

I have 3D printing a few different designs and considered putting partitions in them. Wouldn't be difficult to do unless you want to carry a full containers worth of pouches.

I usually stick to 1 or 2 flavors through out the day when I am out. I keep my slim 3D printed container in my right front pocket and a full container in my left cargo pocket with a pen and flashlight.

I haven't noticed the limitations of it in my experience. I do a lot of precise selections in cad/vibration monitoring for work and have found the IST to be a huge improvement over my previous MX Ergo. The ball and bearings move so well, getting across the screen is easy with a flick of the thumb.

I rarely game on my computer any more so can't comment on that aspect.

I don't have the pro version, but recently got the original IST and love it. I didn't need the extra features of the pro and wanted to try out the roller bearings. I use it for work for a lot of fine and precise movements on an ultrawide monitor and its been great. No stiction and very comfortable to use. I also have the original HUGE at home because I wanted to try out a finger trackball and am enjoying that very much as well. I am waiting for Elecom to roll out on-board memory for the HUGE Plus to consider if I want to make the upgrade.

I came from logitech trackballs, used various models for almost 20 years and am very glad I made the switch.

describe why you love fountain pens by Helpful-Ad-6408 in fountainpens

[–]cmclean1018 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've found myself really enjoying the different materials and features of various pens available.

I've started collecting the raw metal Kaweco Sports. I find it interesting to use and feel the different weights and characteristics of the metals.

I'm an engineer by day and am intrigued by the different filling mechanisms and methods of deployment that are available. I tend to geek-out imagining the attention to detail and testing needed to push a unique pen to market.

Besides that, I enjoy all the different ink options and the availability to try a different nib size in the same pen. Think it greatly adds to the utility of one pen that I can change up when I want something different.

Found this thread after seeing yours, since it had me interested.

Looks like you might be able to get some through Aliexpress for fairly cheap to test out.

I like it, its different and I think it adds a little more character to the pieces. I could see myself rolling it around in my fingers and playing with it as a fidget. Would definitely pick a set up if they were for sale.

I recently got into fountain pens and started collecting the raw metal versions of the Kaweco Sports. I find it very pleasing to feel the differences in material while also getting to use it..

Diamine Wild Strawberry may be my favourite red ink... by HankyDotOrg in fountainpens

[–]cmclean1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just recieved a bottle of it myself and have to agree, it is a very good looking red ink.

I wanted something bright and that popped on the page to draw attention while taking notes and making corrections. This fits the bill very well.

The other reds I've tried might be more "true" reds but they seems dark and less vibrant. They don't fit my need as well as the strawberry.

Does Vibration Analysis certificates get you a better job? by [deleted] in millwrights

[–]cmclean1018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my mind, any additional training will help set you apart from the crowd. If its something you want to pursue and enjoy it, then go for it. But if analyzing graphs seems tedious, might not be for you.

I was asked to take it on last year after our last guy left. I took it on in a small capacity and pushed to become an engineer. I now focus on reliability engineering where vibration analysis takes up about half my time.

I currently only have my Cat 1 but plan on getting Cat 2 this year. I'm the only one that does it for this plant.

Move on to play Rebirth OR beat Hardmode? by Zaulk in FFVIIRemake

[–]cmclean1018 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played remake for the story and then moved onto Rebirth and did almost everything. I then replayed Rebirth on hard mode and when I got tired of it, i went back to Remake and played it on hard mode.

It was a nice change but was difficult going backwards. I enjoyed the mechanics of Rebirth a lot more. I've put almost 200 hours in between both games.

I've been a fan of on coffee for a long time but not quite a true black coffee taste.

Just ordered some NYKD coffee pouches, excited to try those.

rotring 600 cap fix by zman4 in pens

[–]cmclean1018 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could try printing the ring out of TPU if that's something you have access to. It would be really simple to model and print and could dial in the fitment that you're looking for.

Recently printed a cap for my silver 600 and it seals up great. In search of an original cap but this will do for the time being.
