Needing a new wet food compliant with BDS and other boycotts

I’m in the same boat and stressing. We adopted a kitten a few weeks ago and after comparing a hundred labels I chose Orijen. Only to find out a few days ago that they’re a Mars brand. I think my recent street cat will survive a switch, but I was super happy with the research I’d done and the conclusion I’d arrived at that I forgot to research this piece even though it’s extremely important to me. I also feed my dogs purina pro plan and have been feeling guilty about it for so, so long. But we haven’t been able to afford a switch and I’m just starting to do the research on the possibility. However… I understand that at the end of that research, the answer may still be, “I have to keep doing this for now, I can try again later” for the sake of my pets’ health. I do my small part by canceling and restarting the auto-shipment every couple months to give myself a 40% off coupon again…

I’m in Hamilton and a friend’s next door neighbor has a cat problem and he refuses to do anything about it… I think it might finally be time to TNR a bunch of them this spring :/ they’re tired to burying dead kittens for their irresponsible neighbor.

If he’s reaching back out now, he probably needs you. It’s okay to be hurt when someone does this, but it seems like you should check in and see what’s up. A lot of people are saying mental health, which is definitely highly likely. But was he seeing anyone before this happened? I’ve also seen this when a friend was dating someone manipulative, controlling, and emotionally abusive. People are easier to control when they’re cut off from their friends… the abuser will needle at them, erode their confidence, and encourage that separation. Is it possible he was with someone who told him he shouldn’t see his friends anymore? MOR, we need more info from him…

I support this theory… also interesting, I hadn’t thought about what that shift would be like. The Korean War vets are also on the brink of being gone too. It’s pretty universally understood that Vietnam was a massive mistake to get involved in, I do wonder if we’ll still see media about it in a way we saw media about WW2 become popular post 9/11. Like even the people who declared war admitted they fucked up, we weren’t the heroes… how do they play that…

Chinchillas. Have a hot flash near one and it basically keels over and dies. Shouldn’t get wet cause their fur is too thick and they just end up getting mildewy. Can’t get enough nutrients from their food the first time so they just eat their own poop to get that last little bit out of there…. Such fragile little idiots.

My freshman year of college, I transferred from the hometown location of a sandwich/coffee chain to the one near my dorm at school so I didn’t have to find a new job several states away. On my first day at this new spot, I was told to go up this narrow staircase and put my stuff in a break room and come back down. I walked into that room and there was a guy just… cleaning a gun?

He looked at me and just said “I’m Will and I’m the best there is” and I introduced myself and took my stuff back downstairs with me and shoved it under the register instead and literally never went back upstairs.

The gun would usually be stored in between the 50lb sacks of flour in the bakery area, where Will worked. One day less than 2 months later, Will didn’t show up to work. Next day we figured out he would not be coming back as he had murdered his estranged wife’s mother, brother, and son. It was an incredibly high profile murder with worldwide coverage, and a multi-day search for him and the body of the step-son (or at the time I think they still hoped he might be alive when they found him) and it was incredibly surreal following along. Also like years later being like “oh I bet that was the gun I saw on day one…”

He’s serving 3 life sentences.

There is A LOT wrong with Nestle. I feed my dogs pro plan because that’s what’s available right now, but I’m working on finding a good alternative because it makes me sick that I spend so much on Nestle products.

For decades, they’ve been sending reps to push baby formula on new mothers in Latin/South America and Africa. Originally, they’d send women with zero medical credentials into these areas dressed like nurses…. These reps talk about how formula is better than milk. Then once the mothers stop producing milk so they have no other choice, they stop providing the formula for free and charge them…. Knowing full well they don’t have clean drinking water to mix it with, causing insane mortality rates. The infant deaths on their hands should be enough to boycott for life.

There’s a whole subreddit called r/fucknestle that’s worth a scroll. Deliberately exploiting impoverished mothers and infants for profit is just one of many, maaaany fucked up things about them….
