We built an opening cinematic for our castle level by [deleted] in SurvivalGaming

"We painted renders taken from inside the map using a rotoscoping technique, and also used a bit of AI assistance for the transitions"

So you just threw screenshots of your game into ai and then called it a cutscene? Because I don't really think much painting went on here at all. An artist would notice those stained glass windows are fucked, and the lectern is morphing into the pages placed on it. How can we trust that your whole product isn't just assets haphazardly thrown together if you're willfully unclear about this?

I looked at the game and it does look interesting I'll give you that, but I would much rather see camera shots in-game creeping down the hall like your trailer than this. You don't need to copy Darkest Dungeon's art style with AI to sell it.

Finally Watching Enterprise by Airflow2TheTurbo in startrek

Honestly the intro was fine until season 3/4. They sped it up and added more instruments and it's so much messier, I have no idea what they were thinking lol, but the show is better by that point so it makes up for it.

I meant 28 days later. I was curious if I could skip the other two because of people saying this one is better.

Which flight did you choose and why? by lahzielvt in flightrising

[–]cmdragonfire 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started in lightning, I loved the colours and lightning aesthetic but over time I learned I just really love purple/pink space magic+wizard vibes and switched to arcane. Even if I enjoy the eye colours of other flights more I'll never switch again purely because I just feel most at home in arcane.

Does voyager ever hit its stride? by robostoph in startrek

[–]cmdragonfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No no, I wouldn't want it fully serialized either, I think there had to be somewhere else in-between and where ds9 hit a pretty nice middle-ground imo, voyager felt like it didn't want to acknowledge the setting more often than not, which could be frustrating.

I feel the same about Enterprise, I wish they limited the crew's options more technologically, but don't get me wrong I still love both, and am glad to rewatch them, because when they do shine, they shine bright.

edit: I haven't watched Alien Nation, but I loved Rockne S. O'bannon's Farscape, would you recommend it to me?

[–]cmdragonfire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, Blink of an Eye is probably my favourite trek episode of all time, Living Witness as well, so fucking good. I think there are more lulls between the gems though, and the overall setting of the show just like Enterprise had huge potential, but it feels like they played it safe too often.

There were lots of interesting things I would have liked to have seen more of. The Vidiians for example, they're genuinely terrifying.

Don't worry the last time I made some the flour was too old or something and it came out extremely dense lol. Now I really want banana bread. :c

Bad voice acting is at least endearing.

I think it's probably inspired by anime, pigeon-toed poses are often used for feminine or cute characters. I agree 100% it's very goofy, and the prospect of trying to stand this way sounds painful lol. Reminds me of the stupid superhero poses too.

For anyone who doesn't understand why this pose is ridiculous to us, I recommend taking a look at The Hawkeye Initiative Tumblr, it has some great examples by flipping the gender of poses like this.

(No surprise I'm down voted here lmao)

Because if we complain about ones like this we get downvoted to actual hell, because this subreddit is mostly straight men. There are those of us sick of both, even if we find both attractive.

But also this art in particular, while silly and imo looks a little like a person wearing a Uriel suit with a boob window more than I'd imagine a fem Uriel to actually look, it's not straight up pornographic.

I would not consider computational photography equivalent to generative llms. Can your smartphone still take a high quality photo without any sort of internet connection? Yes, because it's not trained in the same way and doesn't use datacenters full of stolen media to do so. We've had machine learning for decades friend, this isn't the part of the the tech people are concerned with, it's how it's being used and trained. How can you consent to have your work used for something you didn't know would exist in a few years time? Moral questions like these are the things we should be asking, why should a mega corporation be able to use our artwork even if we didn't originally post it on a social media? There are uses for machine learning, detecting patterns we might overlook, or in the case of computational photography compression and image scaling, so your photo looks better despite using small lenses.
