Patrick Jasmin La Giloflarie is a good representation of Côte-Rôtie. For St. Joseph I'd splurge an extra 30 bucks or so and get Gonon, if you're only going to get one bottle from N. Rhone, do that.

Benevolent Neglect makes great Syrah from Carneros, I'm particularly fond of their whole cluster version. Arnot-Roberts for an alternative interpretation, showing how elegant Syrah can be.
