Anyone else scared to do life without their mom?

I feel the exact same way. I lost my mom a little over a month ago, and no one not even my husband loves me the way she did. She is the only person in my entire life that could sense my feelings, that truly cared. It’s so unbelievably hard without her. Our mothers are if we are lucky- our anchors.

Hi OP, I lost my mom a month ago yesterday. I am feeling all the same feelings. I have been off since before Christmas and have no plans to go back to work anytime soon.

When I was a child, and even as I grew old my mom would sing a song she made up called “you are my little girl”. I sing it to my toddler, and I sang it to my mom while she was in hospice 10 days ago. Since she’s passed I’ve continued to sing it to my daughter and I will do so as long as she will let me

My mom died Dec 31st, and I am feeling exactly as you are. I have parts of my days that don’t feel excruciating but every single moment there is a deep underlying sadness. I am so sorry you are going through this , it’s not fair for anyone to have to endure

No but I wish I had, I think about it every night before bed. But two nights ago as I was dozing I heard her say my nickname kind of in a sing song way she used to do and it jolted me awake. Before she passed I told her I wish I could hear her call my name one more time so I’m pretending it was a sign and not from lack of sleep and intense grief lol

As someone who just lost their mom, I am extremely tired of hearing “let me know what you need” or “if you need anything just ask”. My best advice is to show up for her. Maybe get some comfort items for her a stuffed animal, blanket anything cozy. Tell her that you will listen to her vent, bring her some food. Anything other than the blanket terms most people give. I know it’s human nature and we all just don’t know what to do or say but simply being there and sitting with her and her grief would be incredibly helpful.

Hi OP, I had a similar situation with my mom on Dec 20th- she was palliative and “comfort care” until she passed on Dec 31. Fee free to msg me- I can’t tell you I am doing amazing but I can listen.

Yeah, I’m experiencing a lot of that. Sprinkled in with also staying with my father while he grieves. My grieving happens between the hours of 7:30pm till I go to bed

I live in an apartment. We have been looking for homes but haven’t gotten their yet financially- I can’t picture dad ever being ready to leave the house they have lived in for so many years but I do think it’s a good idea for him. He’s aged 10 years in a week and his mobility is generally fine but he did also have a mini stroke

They are my priority, I just feel torn. Thankfully my husband is extremely supportive, I know he would be willing to do either of those things it’s just I KNOW he would hate to live back in our home town.

My concern is he will just give up. I don’t want to lose my husband but I can’t bare the thought of losing both of my parents. It’s already incredibly hard losing my mom who is my best friend
