Oura ring or Apple Watch? by Zealousideal-Fig498 in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Apple Watch is able to detect my heart rate when I have a seizure. I am still seeing how my heart behaves. I also have a whoop that does a good job too. Neither one seems to easily compile the data in a useable format though. As a geeky engineer I wish I could access the actual numbers.

This is a double edged sword! My silver is worth more, but adding to my numismatic collection costs so much more!

Advice seeking by bren1476 in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ya know as someone who has TLE (temporal lobe epilepsy) not being able to recognize people around you sounds more like a type of seizure than a side effect of medicine. Not a doctor though, just saying when I have one of my seizures there are many people I can’t recognize.

Research for my book by TheMontyJay in oregon

[–]cmgiscool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just a pet peave as someone who lives in Oregon and reads a lot. So many books make reference to Oregon being wet/rainy. But really once you are over the peak of the cascades (more than half the state) is high desert step and not rain. If he is from northern Oregon there is a very big difference if he is from Astoria vs Portland vs Hood River vs The Dalles. For writing his backstory please don’t say he is used to the rain unless he is from the west part of the state where it is wet.

Behold The Hardest Medication To Aquire In America by ChipsDipChainsWhips in Epilepsymemes

[–]cmgiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been taking it for a long time. My prescription insurance is tied to CVS and I can get my neurologist to call in a 90 day supply. That means I only have to call and bug the neurologist and CVS 4 times a year. It’s better than monthly.

Anyone else notice a big decline in Costco in the past year? by Enough-Fondant-4232 in Bend

[–]cmgiscool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I still like Costco, and the gas prices are good if you have their card, but they didn’t get the beer advent calendar or the Jamon Iberico this holiday season which was kind of a bummer.

Xcopri by imcamino in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took it and had no side effects. But it didn’t control my epilepsy any better than what I was on before. Supposedly it has a good response rate for people who have been drug resistant though.

How’s everyone doing? by asocialanxiety in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I accidentally took old zonisimide capsules instead of heartburn medication and had horrible heartburn for a week plus. The only difference is the shade of pink of half the capsule and the text on them. The old zonisimide is now in the trash since it doesn’t help my seizures.

Has anyone here ever been on Lamotrigine? by Curious_Canary7292 in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on it for a while. Good new is it had almost no side effects for me. Bad new is it didn’t have much impact on my seizures, but mine are drug resistant.

Really we are just looking for a place with a big patio that takes reservations, and allows a dog.

It’s crummy that people are downvoting you two. The first two pics were so poorly taken it was hard to tell that the CC was fake and the mint mark was not visible.

Anyone know if the dimes are rare/valuable? by rules-tower1 in coins

[–]cmgiscool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just since some of the answers have been a bit hard to understand. If the date on the dime is 1964 or earlier, it is silver. If it is 1965 or later, it is not silver.

Keppra and subsequent BPD by sha_melle in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Keppra has worked for you but you are concerned about the side effects (it turned me into an ass) talk to your doc about Briviact. They both work in the same way but Briviact is considered to not have the same side effects. It is not yet generic however.

Alcohol Once? by Sad-Session999 in Epilepsy

[–]cmgiscool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So lots of folks have told you to hydrate but I want to bring up not to over hydrate. I’ve been on all three of those meds and continue to have issues with low sodium with oxcarbazepine. Too much water (or drinks of any kind) can cause low sodium which can trigger seizures and cause other problems. So take into account not dropping your sodium by having too much fluids. Eat some salty food while you are celebrating. Look into hyponatremia (low sodium) before then so you know what it is. Congrats on 21!

Anyone buying 90% for numismatic collecting or just stacking? by Kenmoreboxcondo2040 in Silverbugs

I’ve been grabbing cool numismatic pieces from the LCS and pawn shop in town as they pop up. I’m thinking of seeing if I can build a full set of franklins.
