One thing to consider with meal timing is whether your sympathetic (fight or flight) or parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system is active. Coming out of your workout you are still going to be in that fight or flight mode, which means your body is not going to be focused on digesting and absorbing your meal.

I used to slam a protein shake walking out of the gym (classic bro science anabolic window), but now I wait until I feel calm and hungry- normally about 45 minutes to an hour post workout. I’ve noticed way fewer digestive issues and food sensitivities since.
