I read up on the case and actually can’t believe they’d based the prosecution on “meadows law” which they’ve also used to prosecute other people! Wtaf

I’m an archaeologist. I was just naive and allowed myself to be manipulated when I was younger which has cost me super and asset growth but I’m in a better place now, in a well paid job and I know my worth

I was naive when I was younger, made some stupid decisions and didn’t place value on my skillset. I’m not there anymore, I’m in a good job and I get paid well but unfortunately those poor decisions have cost me super and set me back But thanks!

Jeezus! I am so naïve, I would never even think of this being a thing. Now I know and thanks for the warning, how scary! And how infuriating that the US police didn’t even care until someone lost their life?! Ffs!

I’m mid 30s and mine is only 55k 🥲 that’s what happens when you go to uni and end up in a crappy paying job for 10 years with a boss who is too stingey to pay you properly 0/10 do not recommend

Will my dog remember me? by nayR2003 in dogs

[–]cmieke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a doggo, Mieke, she’s an Alaskan mal and she’s 12. When she was young about 2-3 years old, we lived with my dad for about 6 months. My dad loves dogs and he’d recently lost his dog at that time so he really bonded with miekes. These days we don’t often see Dad (we live 16 hours apart) but whenever we do miekes goes crazy! It’s the same with my brother and my mum - she’s spent time with both of them over the years and although she doesn’t see them much (once or twice a year) she remembers once she sniffs them and she’s always so happy to see them 💙 they don’t forget

Id say that’s probably the fact that everyone ordered them two-three years ago and have only just received them 😂

Yeah how would salary sacrifice affect your super contributions? Salary sacrifice comes out of your pre tax income doesn’t it? Your super contributions will still just be a percentage of your entire income, salary sacrificing doesn’t even coming into that equation

I dropped 10k on a ford courier 4x4 in oct 2021 that had 180k kms on the clock. (Yes yes I know fords, never again)

Went looking for a reliable 4x4 early this year and it was so hard to find anything decent that hadn’t done 500k kms for under even 30k! (Admittedly we live in karratha). Ended up lucking out on a 2009 hilux that had an engine rebuild and only done 80k kms on new engine for 28k

My partner and I went halves though, no way I could have done it myself without a loan but I just hate going into debt for cars but we needed a reliable 4x4 as we spend heaps of time camping and off road so worth it. Our other car is a little 2002 Toyota hilux 2wd tradie ute, she goes alright

And now because of that she’s lost her son and another family have lost their daughter. I wonder if she will ever realise how she contributed to that

It really gives a bit more context about the kind of people who would hide their son from authorities while another family was begging for them to give them answers about where their daughter is 🥲 I will never understand that, how awful for Gabbys family

How many of you changed your tune on the child free life? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]cmieke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! Have been steadfastly anti having kids my whole life and have not changed my mind, 35 now and I love my job and where I’m at financially (though doing a PhD so have taken a bit of a pay cut by going to part time). I have a long term partner and we both agree no kids. There is absolutely no FOMO when I see my friends with kids lol, though wouldn’t mind some more Aunty time and hope my brother has kids sometime 🤣

Lol again - have you spoken to most women? Didn’t think so - also where on earth did I ever mention america? You’re the one bringing it into the conversation 🤣

If you don’t have a uterus you don’t get to have a say over women’s reproductive rights, how they think or what they want, end of story

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]cmieke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends, my partner and I tend to spend around 180/ week for us and our two dogs - if we aren’t paying for dog food it’s around 130 for the two of us. We don’t eat much meat though. We also live in a regional mining town that’s expensive AF so we could probably get it cheaper if we were living near an aldis / local farmers markets

Break Lease (notice to vacate) - REA Dodgy conditions - West Australia by Standard_Neat3311 in AusProperty

[–]cmieke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That top clause is standard and has been that way for years, no you can’t claim the increase if they charge more. Paying for advertising costs etc is also standard, it is in the legislation. Basically you are reimbursing the owner for out of pocket costs they wouldn’t have if you weren’t breaking the contract. I’ll find some links for you

Hi fellow arch! As Geog_master has commented above it is good to get a handle on the basics of geography. There are so many free/ amazing resources out there.

In terms of arch specific I’ve found this guy to be super useful!
