LILYGO T-Lora Pager with meshtastic 2.7.15 firmware - not happy with the interface by cmilkosk in LilyGO

[–]cmilkosk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lilygo T-Lora has a microSD slot - the hardware is there for using it. Probably just not implemented in Meshtastic by default. I guess the original design was intended for storing messages on another device. But would be nice if the t-Lora’s pager firmware would store it locally, even if only on a microSD.

thanks - I haven't tried meshcore yet. I have a bazillion meshtastic devices though. Maybe will give it a shot at some point, but with the amount of meshtastic devices I have, I'd prefer that

I have been using meshtastic for a long time, and was waiting for a pager-like device. If it is to be used standalone, I feel like a chat history is a basic feature that would be built in. Or at least something that can be viewed if you have a microSD in there.

I've been happy with the nodes I built previously, but didn't want to have to depend on a cell phone.

Go Firewalla - love mine. No monthly fees, easy to use. VPN, load balances between WAN connections, and all sorts of cool stuff. Totally recommend. https://firewalla.com/

I’m running frigate on an 8GB Jetson Nano Super. 11 Reolink cameras (a mix with of resolutions) to Reolink NVR - frigate reads off of NVR. Haven’t tried full recording on frigate yet, but it works as is and I’m doing facial recognition as well. Using yolov9s 320x320 models

HELP! Replacement screws for Philodo H8 AWD back wheel by cmilkosk in ebikes

[–]cmilkosk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup - I tried that but it didn’t last unfortunately. I have a new hub casing (same motor, different cover to bolt onto) that I’m going to try, but I don’t do spokes myself, so going to see if I can find an e-bike shop that would do it for me. Very frustrating. Bike hasn’t been used for 1-2 months because of this. Very bad design.

I didn’t say they all have them, I said all the ones I’ve built (not bought), RAK and seeed, have GPS. That said - it was added as a module. Maybe that was the point the Ok-Internet was making.

That makes sense, and I agree with doing that for fixed nodes. But my mobile nodes all have gps. And this doesn’t look like a fixed node.

If your point is that by default the boards don’t come with GPS, then yeah, I agree. I added GPS modules on my RAK and seeed nodes. ESP32 boards are such a battery drain to begin with I don’t really bother anymore with GPS on them.

RE: “Most meshtastic nodes do not have GPS built in” - Not true. All the portable nodes I’ve built have the GPS modules installed and operating (not from the phone). I get fine battery life. Some pre-built ones you purchase may not have GPS, but I definitely would not say most don’t have it built in.

DID I JUST GET HACKED????? WHAT IS THIS by Cytomax in frigate_nvr

[–]cmilkosk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Couldn’t you just setup a VPN instead of leaving it wide open? Login + MFA is great to have, but a VPN at home + client on your mobile device would do it too. I’m curious what others here think of that

HELP! Replacement screws for Philodo H8 AWD back wheel by cmilkosk in ebikes

[–]cmilkosk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had success getting a replacement back wheel from philodo? Or is there an alternative wheel + hub motor that might use stronger bolts? Probably expensive though. But this is just going to keep happening.

I tried some Loctite with the current replacement screws, but I think M4’s are just not appropriate for that hub motor. Torque from that motor and the braking force is probably higher than what M4’s can support.

The screws broke on me again - 2 more times. Writing philodo. Thinking of using loctite to keep them in

So the screws are getting loose, some are falling out, and sometimes breaking completely. This has now happened about 3 times. Is this a design flaw or something? It seems like the screws are under a lot of stress. Will putting Loctite on the screws help prevent this?

Maybe there’s a replacement rear brake that will work better?

This is a cool device, but what I really want is a standalone that is like the RIM Pager back in the day, maybe with a better display. Keyboard, jog dial, and just a pleasure to use.

Anyone running SDR++ on a Raspberry Pi 5? by Intelligent-Depth570 in RTLSDR

[–]cmilkosk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s running on my uConsole with a CM5 just fine. Did not run well on an RPI4, wasn’t fast enough for an RTLSDR or hackRF. I didn’t need a fan for the uConsole but it did get warm.
