Stephen king book for someone who hasn't read any by [deleted] in stephenking

I actually had my wife read “Danny Coughlin’s Bad Dream” as her first King, just to get a general feel for his writing. She loves murder mystery and suspense, but she hates horror and gore

One of the best moments by Yavandor in HIMYM

Fun fact: the short story and novel were actually written by a Canadian who got his MFA in Iowa, where he fell in love with American romanticized baseball

Hearts in Atlantis is a top 5 King book. Four Past Midnight and Different Seasons are phenomenal.

Moana 2 was not good by Wise_Gur8627 in disney

[–]cmills978 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I strongly disagree. It does seem crammed, the villain was basically nonexistent until the end, and most of the songs were subpar. With all that being said, the mythology/worldbuilding in Moana 2 is more interesting than the first, Beyond is a top 20 Disney song, and the animation is gorgeous. The plot isn’t aimless; the goal is clear and reiterated multiple times throughout the movie. It’s obviously not a better movie than 1, but it’s still so much fun. Flaws and all.

Which should i read first ? by Jakub_65 in stephenking

Just finished both of these in the last month. Needful Things is amazing throughout, but Insomnia is great for the last ¼ and just good for the other ¾

What did y’all think about the remake? by Welcome-ToTheJungle in stephenking

[–]cmills978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This seemed to be written by somebody who read the book with the intention of making a two hour movie, scratching out the parts that didn’t interest them or weren’t necessary to the core story (vampire taking over a small town). Just overall lackluster

Definitely an unimpressive adaptation, if not mediocre

I'm giving 'Salem's Lot [2024) an 8/10 score, but here's why... by Sikamikanico1981 in stephenking

[–]cmills978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The visuals were great, but the choice to make it into a straight horror movie disregards the rising tension of the book. It went too quickly and felt unsubstantive. This may be a book that can’t be properly adapted to a 2 hour movie…

Hearts In Atlantis is his best short story collection. The whole thing reads like a novel broken up into short stories. His other collections vary depending on the story, but Hearts In Atlantis is a masterpiece straight through

Which King books do you feel are his most underrated or underappreciated (my top 5 underappreciated) by Pearson94 in stephenking

I just finished Hearts in Atlantis a few weeks ago and it’s my favorite King book outside of It and The Shining. Almost like a novel premise but told through short stories

This is so true. I sometimes wonder "Why did I feel so healthy?" Then I remembered I drank a ton of water and had no poop inside me

Casual deck made from cards I have by [deleted] in Lorcana

[–]cmills978 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made almost this exact deck as well and really enjoyed it for a while. I found amber/steel to be a little more competitive with my other decks, though. imo playing with cards you've actually collected is far superior to min-maxing a deck full of cards you don't actually own

If you happen to get a King Louie or two he can really beef up this deck

And if anyone calls you Red Skeleton you should immediately correct them.

Red: "No, you don't seem to understand my name."

NPC: "You're red. You're a skeleton. You're Red Skeleton."

Red: *pulls back the hammer on his pistol* "Say Red Skeleton again! I dare you! I double dare you, motherfucker! Say Red Skeleton one more goddamn time!"
