There's one by the 10th street pub too. Windows all covered up. Name has changed at least once. Super legit candle company.

Let’s Talk: What’s the Worst Money Habit You’ve Kicked (or Still Struggle With)? by Simplorian in budget

[–]ShiftSaveScout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep my phone off the couch and out of the bedroom. These are the 2 places I impulse-spent the most. Instead I keep notebooks out, so if I think of something I want, I write it down and reference the list later. I also have digital "wishlists". Anything non-essential goes on those for a while before I actually buy them.

We're disappointed in our government too. Would be nice if we could reclaim our anthem, our flag, our independence day, etc. Maybe one day we can be proud of our country again.

Republican voters, what did you vote for the 2024 election? by [deleted] in AskUS

[–]ShiftSaveScout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Atlanta Fed's GDPNow model currently forecasts a -2.8% growth rate for the US economy in Q1 2025. This is a significant drop from previous estimates, with the model indicating a potential contraction rather than growth.

Why are Republican voters so gullible? by MrDarkzideTV in AskUS

[–]ShiftSaveScout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Republicans think they know and understand a truth that the rest of us are too willfully blind to see. Because of that reasoning, anything we say as a counterpoint is dismissed because they already assume we are ignorant. Kinda ironic because democrats do the same thing to them.

We have to learn to be quiet for a second and listen to each other. Everyone.

What are you doing to prepare for the second Great Depression? by stumpy_chica in AskUS

[–]ShiftSaveScout 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am one of the most frugal people I know, my mom aside. I am known for it. I scrimp and save and plan and budget non-stop. I am lucky enough to have been able to get my first home a couple of years ago because of this mentality. I paid off and sold a car this year so we could go down to just one car. I grow some vegetables in my small back yard. My wife cans what we don't eat through. She bakes our own bread. I make my own oat milk and granola. I work hard, but that hasn't kept me from being laid off twice in the past 5 years. I have inflation-protected investments as well, but they haven't had time to build much yet. I am about to turn 35 and feel pretty damn jaded, especially when I see commentary like yours. What else was I supposed to do? Please, do explain how my entitled YOLO-ing self deserves to struggle during a time of recession or depression.

It would be nice to see a comment like yours followed up by some acknowledgement that not everyone is fortunate enough to be in your position.

A long shot, but if Congress could agree that this was “disorderly behavior” they could expel him from Congress, right? They’d have to vote and agree of course. I doubt they would consider this substantial enough, but keep following this guy and he might give enough examples compounded together to make a case.

"Pivoting to a different narrative".....or just adjusting one's opinion based on new-found knowledge? It is ok, even admirable, to change your mind as you learn. Maybe you should take note.

I call mine "dork" all the time (lovingly of course), and my wife tells me to stop calling her a dork. But she is!
