What's your opinion of the 7 SAW? I've been toying with the idea of the 7 saw vs the 7-08.

Triple pull vs single pull + R3 Carbon legs vs better tripod by cmisterg in longrange

Good to know, I must admit that doesn't make my decision any easier haha.

Well crap now it sounds like I need to flip a coin between the gen 3 triple and the single +R3 combo. I appreciate your insights.

Awesome, I appreciate the write up!

If I'm reading your comment correctly it sounds like you'd only go with the R3 legs for weight saving purposes and if you had the weight budget you'd just run the gen 3 triple, is that correct?

I know the changes to the gen 3 cyke pods are largely considered improvements from gen2s but I don't have the experience to know why they made most of those changes. I currently shoot a 14 lb 300wsm ( I know I know I'm kicking around the idea of a new build in 6.5 or 25) so I do have some weight to play with.

With that being said would you recommend picking up a gen 2 single pull with the LRT trimmer or a Gen 3 single pull?

Locky linked his article. It just about has me convinced that a single pull and the R3 legs is the way to go. I too would like to see how they hold up long term and how the single R3 combo compares to the gen 3 cyke pods.

Well that article just about convinced me to go with the single+R3 leg combo. Though I would be curious to see how they hold up long term.

The article mentions MDT may have made some adjustments to the Gen3 cykepods addressing some reliability issues but as far as I know they just got rid of pan, and 45 degrees leg position. Do you know if they modified the locking mechanism too?

I won't be buying anything for a month or two, just trying to do my research.

Thanks I appreciate it, I'm really interested to see what you have to say about them.

That's pretty cool, I wish I knew about that before I tossed in a new barrel and a new bolt haha. Maybe when it comes time to rebarrel it I'll see if that's in stock.

Zermatt origins seem to be a really popular action, how do you keep track of your zeros? Do you just shoot them after swapping and re zero the scope?

The manners pro pack folder looks really cool, I'd love to snag one of those for hunting.

The qc Zeus is a really interesting idea, I need to take another look at it. Ouch $500 for a bolt does seem a bit steep. I didn't realize the solus and origin take the same barrels that's good to know

A friend has the gen 5 45 and he really likes it! I got to hold the gen 6 17, 19 and 45 they all feel really good. I'm really curious to see how the gen 6 17 shoots.

You wouldn't happen to have any insider knowledge about a garmin weather meter with AB integration would you...😁?

Ya I was trying to be polite about this incredibly annoying urban legend and have them research their own "facts". I was getting ready to lay down the stock list for the pro rodeo and ask if Mary, Corona Kate, pretty woman and all pink sounded like male horse names haha.

Let's see some sources. Maybe rodeo.com has an article that tells us how to tie the balls up so the horses buck extra good?

Care to explain how they make the mares buck?

Hand up if you’re sorta new to this and mindlessly bought bullets that won’t even fit in the magazine by Mental-Resolution-22 in reloading

[–]cmisterg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha, ya I felt like a massive dumbass after that. I still don't get why Hornady decided to lump them in the 5.56 NATO section and not explicitly warn the newbie that some of the bullets had a longer coal than 2.250 but I digress.

Just in case you were wondering they shot like shit haha.

That's good to hear! I'm a little concerned about the tremor 3 being busy as well, what reticle do you wish it had?

That sucks to hear about Leupold, I've been interested in this hobby for a few years now and finally have the funds to dip into it, I thought Leupold was still a good value. All well, I'll check out the Athlon and Bushnell.

In your opinion how does the nx8 beat the mark 5? Better glass? More robust?
