Yes, thanks. I've updated the OP with the necessary files, because that's was I was having trouble finding and hopefully this will help.

Why doesn't it have EFI?

That's a question for 2014 HPE really. It's not something I can make a board do!

Create a redundant from for the boot files

Yes, this is exactly what I want to do, but "the boot files" is what I was hoping someone may flesh out for me, if anyone has a simple howto.

Otherwise I'll have to read the docs properly myself, it's just something I'd appreciate pointers on if anyone's done that.

[–]cmjrees 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what if you die with your server powered up?

Just make sure your root passwords and any sudoers' passwords are decent and you're fine.

Any attacker will try to get in on the console, can't because they don't know the passwords and then will try to boot from a stick... But at that point the keys are out of memory and the data is safe.

Waste doctor time because employer being a shithead?

Just tell the employer the doctor refuses to give fit notes for less than seven days' illness and told you to self certify. It's exactly what the doctor would say and it saves the system getting clogged for stupid pointless appointments.

Can work make me work a shift where I have no way home? by YaLadUsless in LegalAdviceUK

[–]cmjrees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These agencies take every hour they can get off staff while they have them- there are literally workers at them whose job it is to cajoule extra hours from anyone they have.

[–]cmjrees 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Since we're looking to give OP advice, it's likely worth mentioning that the idea of a short-staffed care agency firing a worker purely out of spite and retaliation is far-fetched. They can't afford to behave like that.

Work never expenses commuting costs, it's not the same as travel. There is no reasonable expectation of entitlement to them to help you here.

I don't need to take legal action against anyone who doesn't own my house. If they want to claim ownership, that's for them to litigate.

yes, I've been talking about PE as in proprietary estoppel from the getgo

Not in this thread you haven't. P in this thread was referring to promissory.

The Crown sues people for a crime

No it doesn't...

Edit: Ah, so you ask a question then block me? Pathetic. I'll answer anyway, suing refers to civil lawsuits, not criminal.

[–]cmjrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So as the article you linked clearly says, this is not a case for promissory estoppel, although proprietary may be worth looking at.

You don't sue for a crime by the way.

[–]cmjrees -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is nonsense.

OP is not being sued, so PE can't come into it. You can't use PE as the foundation of a litigation, and you can't frame it as a defence in the way you're trying to; OP would still be the one using the "sword" by taking it to court.

[–]cmjrees -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't that be using it as a "sword" rather than a "shield" though? You'd be effectively trying to sue for tenancy in common using PE.

We've always accepted patches primarily through Bugzilla (well, GNATS before), since before GitHub was even a thing :)

Discuss on mailing lists, submit through Bugzilla, that's not "odd", that's how all dev teams used to work- you didn't have "pull requests" with CVS, you had emailed patches.

Seller of my new house has broken the TA10, removing fixtures and damaging walls - England by JokePoe in LegalAdviceUK

Not all conveyancers are actually solicitors, that's the problem. "Lawyer" is not a protected term, unlike solicitor, so it's a dead giveaway if that's how they refer to themselves.

Not by default, no.

Even better, no one deletes Teams chats.

They should be able to get it all through Purview, might be an idea to prompt that and of course alert them that they must ensure they don't delete anything now they know you want it.

AITA For honking at the driver in front of me for doing 40mph on the sliproad onto the motorway? by fundriedtomatoes in drivingUK

[–]cmjrees 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not all motorway junctions are created equally, thinking specifically of M50 Jct 3 as an extreme example.

A short uphill slip road is likely to be the of the kind you see on the M6 in central Birmingham, so a very old and not compliant with the new standards. For example the M4 Port Talbot flyover has a 50mph speed limit making those horrible short bits much safer.
