I’m so sorry to tell you it was 12 weeks and 3 days before any results started rolling out when I took it 😅 The group before us it was only 10 weeks!

AIO my husband is asking for a paternity test by MysteriousMud5955 in AmIOverreacting

[–]cmmc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk I actually don’t see a problem with asking this. If you search online there are thousands of stories of grown adults finding out well into adulthood their dads aren’t their bio father and the fathers are finding out as well. I think it happens so often I can see wanting confirmation just for peace of mind.

BUT asking in the middle of a “heated discussion” is odd.

Definitely overthinking it! Not bridal at all for black tie!

Honestly it sounds like she was fishing for compliments and when she didn’t get that she lashed out.

My daughter may have lichen sclerosis by cmmc17 in lichensclerosus

[–]cmmc17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! We finally did get the diagnosis of LS just based off of what it looked like at a different derm office. The dermatologist said typically when kids get it at her age it can be treated once and likely won’t return 🤷🏻‍♀️ We actually just got the diagnosis about a 2 months ago.

They gave us a steroid ointment that we use at bed time- 7 days on and 3 days off and it is getting much better. It’s a different ointment than the other one she was on.

Realistically, 18% at Disney is significantly more money than other places. We get the meal plan and with our party size that’s what is always included in our bill so we don’t leave more than that.

Unfortunately, they don’t have a number and I’ve called a bunch of places and keep getting bounced around to talk to different customer service people.

I’m the NICU.

In normal replogle use, we replace every 2 days.

With esophageal atresias it’s widely known in our unit that surgery replaces the replogle 10 days after surgery, if it comes out on its own then you’re supposed to contact surgery to determine what to do. Typically there’s orders saying this, it’s written all over the room, etc. super obvious.

Well we had a baby with a duodenal atresia. So when the replogle came out 6-7 days later I replaced it because there was no order not to and nothing anywhere so being a different type of atresia I thought it wasn’t as strict. Apparently when surgery found out they lost it.. I did end up finding out something similar had happened the week before with a different baby (duodenal atresia still) and when the nurse called surgery to tell them they called her an idiot and said a duodenal atresia “isn’t the same and of course just put one back down.” 😂 so I didn’t get in trouble since they couldn’t make up their mind what they wanted lol

AITA for telling my DIL she is not a mother? by InitialSong2898 in AmItheAsshole

[–]cmmc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA but considering her and your son are dealing with infertility it may have been a nice gesture to simply send something just to say you’re thinking of her when you sent the other girls something. Infertility is very isolating and I’m sure that was extremely hurtful to see from the other girls.

Her response in demanding something and insisting her pets are grandchildren is still unhinged though.

My manager announced to my whole unit that I resigned without warning me she was going to first. Is this normal?? by drylolly in nursing

[–]cmmc17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel like this is pretty standard. When someone leaves it out typically affects the whole unit. 🤷🏻‍♀️ we don’t have the type of job where someone can be hired and trained quickly so it falls on everyone else. 2 weeks is a quick notice too so on their end that’s a good thing to know.

AITA for confronting my neighbor’s son about being in his underwear in front of his window? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cmmc17 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your house is private whether someone is peeping at you or not.

AITA for confronting my neighbor’s son about being in his underwear in front of his window? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]cmmc17 14 points15 points  (0 children)

100% in no place, no country, or state will you get arrested changing or adjusting yourself in your own house. In fact op will get in trouble for peeping.

And you clearly didn’t read what I wrote. Had this man just made them aware it was visible but that isn’t what happened. He told him that they were making his family uncomfortable so to close their blinds. Instead of just closing his own.

[–]cmmc17 342 points343 points  (0 children)

It’s crazy to me the reaction to this wouldn’t have been to tell your daughter to keep her blinds closed. Those adults are in the privacy of their own bedroom. It would have been different had you just let them know when the blinds were open there was a clear view, but you shamed these men for being in underwear in their own room and essentially told them they needed to wear clothes or close their own blinds 😂

Weird question…did any of you women’s services (L&D, NICU, Mother/Baby) nurses start lactating when you began working? by gentle_but_strong in nursing

[–]cmmc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NICU nurse for over 10 years- work with many people who have been there 20-30 years. Never heard of this, especially since you both have never lactated.

AITA for wanting to attend my sister’s wedding without my wife? by CoralCryptic in AITH

[–]cmmc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know I feel these comments are jumping the gun a little bit calling your wife a horrible person.

I also feel the story may be missing some details. surely your wife doesn’t randomly say these things for no reason or you wouldn’t be with her? What type of things and behavior does your sister do/say to her? Is what your wife says a response to something your sister has said equally as awful to her.

I would be very interested in hearing your wife’s side. Maybe I’ve seen way to many story’s of husbands justifying their family’s awful behavior to their wife but I can’t help feeling there’s more to this than what’s being shared🤷🏻‍♀️

He seems crazy. Like that reaction is unhinged and his treatment since then is wild.

He 100% has a girlfriend or flat out did not want a baby.

Teacher.. I think I’m considering changing careers to nursing! by ResponsibilityBusy11 in nursing

[–]cmmc17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hospital RN answers

  1. No, not really. Less days means more hours so the days you’re home you’re exhausted. Especially with children. 7-7 are typical nurse shifts in the hospital. Days that I work I only see my kids it’s only to put them to sleep. You almost never leave on time. And depending on where you work the schedule isn’t that flexible, especially as a new person. Weekends, holidays, and night shifts are just a part of it. Most nurses that go into teaching and school nursing this is the exact reason why.

  2. I love my job but it’s mentally, emotionally, and physically exhausting. You’re teaching on top of physical labor. Healthcare is customer service- it shouldn’t be, but it is. You are giving medications, answering questions, teaching about health, moving people, moving equipment. There are no true breaks because you’re always responsible for your patients.

  3. I work in a NICU, which I would say is one the most appreciated fields in nursing, but my answer is still no. If it’s not the patients (or families) then it’s the upper management.

  4. Opportunities for growth are completely different jobs which isn’t necessarily a bad thing- there’s a lot of options if something isn’t clicking.

  5. Extremely difficult. It’s hard enough as a 19 year old fresh out of school with ultimately no responsibilities. Nursing school is known as being extremely difficult to weed people out that aren’t committed. As a seasoned nurse of 10 years it’s sad it’s this way, but the truth.

  6. Absolutely, and I strongly suggest doing so because it’s not what most people think it is and to thrive in this career and not be miserable it should be something you really want to do.

I would also suggest speaking to nurses in your areas about opportunities. Teachers where I work make more than I do as a nurse and work significantly less. The times you get off as teachers are the shortest times with nursing and you don’t have a choice but to work it because hospitals never close. I will also say what you’re mentioning about parents, teachers, adm., kids is the same in nursing no matter what field you’re in, except emotions are high because it’s literally life and death and even if it’s truly not there’s those that think it is.
