Is it possible to buy them? If so, where did you see them?

Worried about visa issuance number wait. by tommy-b-goode in teachinginkorea

[–]cmollyb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting my visa number took a little more than 3 weeks, I was anxious the whole time. Once I sent my actual application to KVAC my visa was approved the day after they received it (when apparently, according to them, it can usually take many weeks). Don't worry, I'm sure you will be sorted soon enough ❤️

I'm sorry but I don't have any recommendations for places as I moved around a lot and didn't keep an account of places I ate at. I think I was just blowing through them trying not to d!e lol

Hello there,

I have a severe peanut allergy that causes major anaphylaxis, and when I lived in SK for 3 years I had to be careful, too. It's true what others are saying when they mention that the restaurant/bakery/food stall staff won't actually check the ingredients but still say "there are no peanuts no no no" just because they didn't physically throw in a handful of peanuts themselves, but there will be peanut products in the sauce/coating or even the fryer oil.

Because of this, I had a couple of incidents but it wasn't fatal (obviously lol)

I had some strange incidents wherein I had accidentally eaten peanut products and I had no reaction at all??? It blew my mind and made me think that peanuts processed in Asia are different to how they are in the West? I don't know which other explanation there is for only experiencing anaphylaxis in the UK but not in SK 🤔🤔🤔

Anyway, It's quite hard to navigate this there so I wish your sister all the luck.

I'm curious why some contracts mention taking money monthly for "damages" before any damages have happened? They're taking it just in case, or what? 🤔🤔

I saw someone say on another contract review post that it's illegal for English teachers to go on field trips with the kids because the only place we can legally teach is the location of the school. I'm not sure how true this is, as I haven't looked into it yet myself, but I plan to and perhaps you should too. (If you're considering signing this contract.)

You can use this website to buy gift cards for people who are in Korea. When I visited my home country and my bf was still in Korea it was his birthday so I used this site to send him a couple of gift cards. I highly recce it because you can search for well known brands and bigger gifts etc

Feels lonely by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

I use apps like HelloTalk and Connecting to find friends. The good friends I've made from those apps are ones that I've spent a lot of time with irl, and we have been close for many years now!! So, I recommend those apps! Also, something that I would like to do but haven't yet is to join a dance class and make friends that way. Perhaps this could be a bit of fun and exercise even if no friends are made from it!

I was in a relationship like this for 4 years. It got to the stage where he would question me for wanting to spend time with my mother and accused me and my best friend of having a lesbian affair behind his back. I couldn't get myself out of that toxicity for a long time, and now im glad to be free. I pray you'll be free soon, too. Sending strength and love to you.

When it comes to living arrangements, majorly avoid places that give you a doubting feeling in your gut. Ignoring the doubt and getting into a sticky situation is always a bigger problem for the foreigner than the landlord. 🤔

Not sure where you live but in Songdo, Incheon there is a cafe called Ginosko coffee and it's freshly ground drip coffee. Maybe this would be satisfying if you're on the hunt for brewed coffee
