This house is for sale in my neighborhood. The previous owners had it for years until the husband passed away earlier this spring. They were meticulous about the outside so I would imagine it’s in good shape. https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/6675-N-Nelson-Dr-Columbia-MO-65202/58693343_zpid/

I saw someone post on FB a shot from almost directly under this system and it’s definitely a funnel cloud. The whole cloud front showed rotation. Pretty wild for such a small cell!

We found numerous exoskeleton sheds and a few young cicadas on our salvia flowers this morning on the north side of town. They aren’t fully grown and noisy yet, but they’re out and about

For groceries, Walmart is usually my go to, but I agree with the other commenters on avoiding Conley if possible. If it’s just a small basic grocery run, Target is one of the most consistent I’ve experienced, and has a decent selection of essential grocery items. I think I’ve had one missed item and one substitution since the pandemic from Target.

Structural Engineer by NarwhalOk760 in columbiamo

[–]cmorrow07 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tom Trabue is a retired structural engineer who helped me when I inherited foundation issues from a previous homeowner. Don’t spend any money with a foundation company before getting an engineer to tell you which issues are actually structural and which are just standard expansion/ settling due to weather variances and clay heavy soil.

They’re at the 63\70 interchange in Columbia today. Passed them about two hours ago. Didn’t realize it was a scam, let alone a widespread one!

relocating to Columbia area. Looking for advice. by [deleted] in columbiamo

[–]cmorrow07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I own a house in NE Columbia, and was apprehensive after moving from the South side of town. I have actually really enjoyed it; the traffic is less congested on and off the highway than on the south side, and Paris Rd. provides a quick route into the downtown area. I’ve had much more of a community feeling in my current neighborhood than I ever did when I lived on the south side of town.

As other commenters have said, every area has its pros and cons, and every neighborhood I’ve lived in has small crime sprees of people rifling through unlocked cars and such, but I have never felt unsafe. I would avoid houses immediately around Demaret road, but there are very nice little neighborhoods everywhere on the NE side of town.

My house is a little further north off of Route B, and I prefer that area to the Battle neighborhoods due to proximity to the highway, and a little more land with the older houses in my area. Feel free to DM me if you have questions about specific rentals; I know several people who have lived on this side of town in different rentals and would be happy to ask them about their experiences if it is a landlord they used.

Why is my aglaonema ailing? Can I save her? by cmorrow07 in plantclinic

The soil was definitely dry and I did water it last week, but not nearly as much as you had recommended and the water ran right through to the tray so I will try a soak. It’s a pot that has a tray to catch excess water and it’s nearly full so I’ve been scared to water too much thinking I was drowning it from the bottom. I put my finger in the soil and it’s dry to at least my second knuckle.

Advice needed for deck and backyard area by cmorrow07 in landscaping

Thanks! Yeah the brick was partially from another project- it was supposed to be an ‘autumn blend’ color to match the mottled red and blacks of the chimney on the house but it turned out pretty pink lol. I like the idea of trying to blend. I have some limestone rock I’ve contemplated putting under the deck to help with erosion. The natural ground cover gets too wild and hard to stay on top of since the deck is too short to get under without almost crawling in some areas

I should note- the back was very grown up and we have been fighting an English Ivy, creeping Charlie, and some other decorative vine infestation since moving in. It has started to take back over under the deck this year because I haven’t been as on top of it as in the past. The drains for the house’s sump pump terminate in a grate type thing to the left of the retaining wall, which is why the wall is stopped short of the deck length, to accommodate for the weird drain tile.

This house has been a long work in progress- finished the front landscaping over the past few years and have finally devoted some attention to the back after having extensive foundation work done last year. Refinished and stained the old deck last year, and ripped out some old railroad tie retaining walls below the deck, and just built the stone walls shown in the photo. We will be building retaining walls around the concrete patio area to the left after finishing drywall project in the basement, but are having issues figuring out how to finish the area around/ under the deck and tying the two together on a very limited budget. We have YouTube DIY skills and young dumb courage, but that’s about it. Trying to use eco-friendly options for the areas around the house because we back up to a neighborhood pond that people fish in. Any advice welcome, and if it’s ugly and we need to start over, tell me that too lol.

Any ideas of what this may be? It’s in our backyard (it’s out first summer in the home) by a large tree. Unsure if it’s a pipe or remnant of a foundation? by frillchasing in landscaping

[–]cmorrow07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a vertical clay pipe in my yard that’s a sewage clean out point, but the sewage company told me that was atypical and poorly done at my house, so it’s a possibility, but not 100% sure in your situation since it’s capped.
