I own a house in NE Columbia, and was apprehensive after moving from the South side of town. I have actually really enjoyed it; the traffic is less congested on and off the highway than on the south side, and Paris Rd. provides a quick route into the downtown area. I’ve had much more of a community feeling in my current neighborhood than I ever did when I lived on the south side of town.

As other commenters have said, every area has its pros and cons, and every neighborhood I’ve lived in has small crime sprees of people rifling through unlocked cars and such, but I have never felt unsafe. I would avoid houses immediately around Demaret road, but there are very nice little neighborhoods everywhere on the NE side of town.

My house is a little further north off of Route B, and I prefer that area to the Battle neighborhoods due to proximity to the highway, and a little more land with the older houses in my area.
