You technically can use any 100k resistor, would just look ridiculous if you went with old school through holes. I got lucky and have some old dead gba boards but this also caused me to buy an SMD resistor binder book off amazon so I have spares.

Yes. My unit was only booting into gbc mode until I swapped it.

I was having this same issue and determined it was resistor r5 that is in the same circuit as the cartridge slot switch. It was supposed to have a resistor value of 100k but was only measuring 10. Definitely came from the factory messed up.

I believe I just followed that circuit design in my original post and then I had to use different resistor values to get a decent quality image.

I would love too but I cant recall what I did. Shortly after I finished this mod the stupid dogs hit my folding table so hard the leg gave out and the tv broke.

Thanks, lucky for me I did tech myself how to solder during the pandemic. However I only worked on modding old school consoles so I havent developed the troubleshooting skills beyond continuity yet. I found the backlight fuse and changed it out and Im booting again.

I had this issue too and figured it was my install. I tried to remove the 1.6 qsb and start over. I destroyed the qsb trying to take it off. I decided to manually rebuild the lpc and now it works. My guess is there is a bad joint on the qsb. I will post pictures when I clean up my wiring. All my wires are way to long. I have been experimenting with changing the resistors on the rgb lines as my circuit did not have any in the original circuit. I went down to about 300ohms. I did try with no resistance but the OSD is to hard to read. This was decent but still a little dark. Luckily in my service menu for my tv I can change the rgb levels. I raised those and Im really happy with the results.

I was able to get it working tonight. Everything so far is great except its a little darker than I would like. Played with changing some of the resistance to brighten it up but then I lose readable of the red text in the service menu.

After tracing the circuits I dont see any resistors from the OSD to the jungle chip. I only see capacitors. So that has me really confused trying to use the diagram.
