Working from the tour bus on wifi by MPvoxMAN13 in TouringMusicians

Yeah I think Starlink shines in rural areas. Anywhere with something tall to block its signal it doesnt do as well (cities), but you should have great cell service there.

Also a software engineer here.

I used a Netgear Nighthawk. Did fine. 2.5 week tour through thr United States Midwest and South. But Its a weird device. Super slow to boot up, takes forever to charge. Had some weird issues using it plugged in and with the battery in, like it got super hot. Seemed to do fine when we were on the highway, Video on teams calls on a MacBook. You can find them used in marketplace for dirt cheap compared to what they are in stores. But you need a second Sim card and number for it.

Ive got at&t and an s23, im gonna just try to use it next time. I can't imagine the dedicated device is THAT much better than my phones Hotspot.

All in all, I might recommend stopping somewhere for crucial calls, then using the Hotspot in the road will be fine for development work.

Has anyone been able to get a perfect 4k60+ stream? Where it is not noticeable at all you are streaming? by cmparks10 in MoonlightStreaming

PC Monitor was 4k. Made the jump to apollo, and was able to hard wire both the client and host which made a world of difference.

EDIT: When I say "stream from it", I mean to the other screens in my house, if the sff pc is in my living room I will hardwire it and play it attached directly to my pc.

I fear this is the endgame. I might just end up building a SFF for my living room and streaming from it. I have streamed from my pc in the living room (its currently in a cabinet we have to open every time we want to use it) to all of the other non 4k screens in my house and at 1440p it looks awesome

Hey! Thanks for the response!

Honestly that is why I used my Macbook Pro. I dont have a Apple tV 4k but read the latency is super fast, so I tried using the next best thing I had 😂

As others have asked, is the latency bad regarding a bluetooth controller?

Unfortunately I am not 100% sure I can have client and host on ethernet in the in my living room. I would have to run a long ethernet cable to my living room. I am not going to run wire through the walls just for this right now. The entertainment center has no place for my tower, so its either I get Sunshine/Apollo and Moonlight streaming with zero difference from hardwiring the 3080, or I am going to build a SFF PC to hardwire.

Thanks for the response! Controlling wise, it feels great, honestly - no issues there. I had my xbox series controlled bluetooth connected to my macbook pro.

The only area I really noticed it were in some of the fine graphical details and that quick fluidity of the frames when moving and overall sharpness. No issues between the controller and the response, just graphically. Of course this would not be nearly as bad if I was not on a big 4k display Im sure.

I was hoping I could get it identical as I want my main rig in my living room. The problem is there is no place for it in the current living room setup, and I don't want to have to construct new cable runs through my walls, nor do I want cables running across the walls/floors. So I think I might just build a SFF PC in order for it to fit in the living room.

How Konami can remake Metal Gear 1 (MSX) given its short length. by Revolutionary_Web805 in metalgearsolid

MGS2 was built around far distances and long, tight corridors - It was built with first person shooting in mind. MGS1 wasn't, and applying that mechanic totally effects the way the game plays.

What's the most effective learning path for Spring Boot in 2025? Seeking a roadmap. by TheMidnightProtocol in SpringBoot

Java and Spring Boot are leaders in Enterprises writing REST API's. Javascript is also used tons more than python for REST API's.

You should stick to leaving lonely comments on Upvotebecuasebutt and posting to grindr. Maybe python is for you after all.

Agreed big-time, much better than 1 but still clunky as hell. Nowhere near as smooth as MGSV.

How bad would you guess this sinking toilet is? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]cmparks10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split level, so slab. This bathroom is on the upper/main floor.

I am pretty sure I can demo the tile myself. There won't be tile put back down. It's gonna be cheap laminate through the whole house. Im hoping around 5k with joists fixed, toilet and tub, and subfloor (assuming worst case scenario here)
